Job description

Faculty - Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology (Open Rank/Track)

The Ohio State University (OSU) Department of Surgery is recruiting a nationally recognized basic scientist to join the Pancreatic Cancer Program. This individual should have an established record of research as evidenced by publications and an active research program. The position is being recruited at the Associate Professor or Professor level.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conceptualize, plan, design, implement, and conduct research studies; develop and write grant proposals to secure extramural funding and maintain NIH R01 or equivalent funding.
  • Write and publish research in high‑quality peer‑reviewed scientific journals; present findings at national and international scientific conferences to build a scholarly reputation.
  • Instruct and mentor junior scientists, doctoral and postdoctoral students, medical students, residents, and fellow trainees; participate in department, college, and university committees and initiatives.
Requirements
  • PhD or MD/PhD in an applicable field.
  • Established record of research in pancreatic cancer.
  • Proven ability to write scientific reports and publish in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Qualified for academic appointment at the Assistant, Associate, or Professor level; rank and salary will be commensurate with prior experience.
Preferred Qualification
  • Active extramural grant funding (equivalent to NIH R01).

The Division of Surgical Oncology provides excellence in clinical cancer care and conducts internationally recognized research. Our team works closely with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, and surgeons to translate discoveries from bench to bedside.
