Job description

Objectives The Deputy Clerks of the Common Pleas Court report directly to the Chief Administrator of the Clerk of Courts. The Clerk and her staff serve the residents of Delaware County and maintain and preserve the case filings of the Delaware County Common Pleas Courts and the 5th District Court of Appeals. Job Standards High school diploma is required with higher education preferred.

Cash handling experience, excellent customer service and communication skills, proficient data entry and typing skills required. Essential Functions Job Description, but not limited to: Receiving, processing and docketing both paper and electronic case filings Receipting payments for court fees, fines, restitution and other transactions Scanning and archiving all documents related to case filings Maintaining all documents in case files Monitoring records according to retention schedules Communicating with the court staff and other local agencies Work consists of moderately complex and varied tasks requiring application of laws, rules, regulations and procedures Job Requirements, but not limited to: Excellent customer service skills, both in person and on the telephone Superior communication skills, both verbal and written Proficiency in grammar, writing, mathematical skills, spelling, punctuation Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously in a busy, fast-paced office General computer knowledge and excellent data entry skills Cash drawer accounting and daily balancing experience Professional appearance and demeanor Previous legal experience is preferred Regular and predictable attendance with superior work ethic Other job requirements: Ability to operate a variety of office equipment such as computer, copier, telephone, calculator, high-speed document scanner and other necessary equipment Manual dexterity, talking and hearing on the telephone, viewing a computer screen Light to moderate physical work like moving boxes, shredder bags, large files and other items that may weigh 30 pounds.
