Job description

Job Title: Project ManagerJob Description

This position offers an experienced Project Manager the opportunity to lead commercial and industrial construction projects for a mechanical, plumbing, building automation, and industrial piping contractor in the Columbus market. You will oversee projects from turnover through closeout, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, budget, safety, and client expectations. The role suits a professional with a strong background in mechanical piping, plumbing, or MEP construction who excels at project leadership and financial management throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities
  • Manage assigned projects from pre-construction through completion, ensuring successful delivery of scope, schedule, and budget objectives.
  • Review contract and bid documents at project turnover and develop a thorough understanding of project requirements, risks, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate project activities, including scheduling, manpower planning, material procurement, and subcontractor coordination to keep work progressing efficiently.
  • Lead and support field teams, helping to resolve project-related issues as they arise to maintain productivity and quality.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration among owners, contractors, design professionals, vendors, and internal stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project performance against budget and schedule, and take corrective actions as needed to achieve project goals.
  • Oversee project closeout activities, ensuring all documentation, financials, and contractual obligations are completed accurately and on time.
Essential Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 7+ years of project management experience within mechanical piping, plumbing, or MEP construction.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, project delivery methods, and construction management practices.
  • Proven experience managing project budgets, including cost tracking, forecasting, and billing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Knowledge of project management and document control software.
  • Familiarity with construction financial systems and reporting.
  • Mechanical engineering knowledge relevant to mechanical, plumbing, and piping projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead project teams and coordinate multiple stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working on commercial and industrial construction projects involving mechanical, plumbing, building automation, and industrial piping systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, and specifications related to mechanical and MEP projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships with clients, design professionals, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities across several projects.
  • Problem-solving skills to address field issues and project challenges quickly and effectively.
Work Environment

This role is based in the Columbus market and supports commercial and industrial construction projects focused on mechanical, plumbing, building automation, and industrial piping systems. You will work closely with field teams, design professionals, and vendors, using tools such as Microsoft Office, project management and document control software, and construction financial systems to plan, track, and report on project progress. The position involves collaboration between office and field environments, coordinating schedules, manpower, and materials to support successful project execution.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Columbus, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $105000.00 - $110000.00/yr.

Last PM made 105k base and over 100k in bonuses off of the projects he was working on. Bonuses are project heavy

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Columbus,OH.
