Job description

The Big Walnut Local School Districtย is seekingย a Network and System Security Coordinator to begin with the start of the 2026/2027ย school year. ย This position is located within the Big Walnut Schools and will be hired through the ESC of Central Ohio. ย We seek an individualย whoย is organized, efficient, and self-motivated.ย  The successful candidateย must have excellent communication and collaboration skills, and willย contribute to the development of a healthy, safe, and caring environment by understanding the emotional and social development of children.
The Network and System Security Coordinator is responsible for installing, maintaining, monitoring, and securing the District's network and client/server infrastructure. Please see the attached job description for complete details.

Minimumย Qualifications:

  • Four-year college degree in Computer Science, Networking, Information Systems, Cybersecurityย orย relatedย disciplineย orย aย two-yearย degreeย inย aย similarย areaย combinedย with a minimum of 5 years of experience managing and maintaining networks and servers.
  • Thisย positionย mayย requireย occasionalย travel,ย extendedย hours,ย andย attendanceย atย evening or weekend events. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Meetย allย requirementsย forย employmentย inย Ohioย publicย schools,ย includingย successful completion of required background checks.

Preferredย Qualifications:

  • Experienceย overseeingย technologyย andย infrastructureย inย aย PK12ย setting.
  • Industryย certificationsย suchย asย Ciscoย CCNA,ย HPEย Arubaย Certifiedย Networkingย Associate, ISC2 certifications, CompTIA Network+ and/or CompTIA Security+.
  • Experienceย installingย andย configuringย routingย andย switchingย hardware.
  • Experienceย managingย anย IP/cloud-basedย phoneย system.
  • Experienceย withย serverย visualizationย technologyย suchย asย VMWare,ย Hyper-V,ย Nutanix.
  • Understandingย ofย studentย dataย privacyย andย cybersecurity legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with students, school personnel, parents/guardians, and outside agencies
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Alternative to the above qualifications as Superintendent or Board of Education may find appropriate or as otherwise permissible by law

ย Salary:

  • 260-Day contract
  • Salary commensurate with experience and is anticipated to be $75,000 to $90,000
