Job description

OEA represents more than 100,000 teachers, faculty members and support professionals in Ohio’s public schools, colleges, and universities to help improve public education and the lives of Ohio’s children. OEA members provide a wide range of professional education services in communities throughout the state. 

The Ohio Education Association is seeking a person for a challenging and rewarding position as a Computer Technician – Administrative Support. This position is responsible for a variety of technical functions in the Computer Services Department. 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides help desk support and technical assistance to users
  • Maintains current knowledge of hardware, software, and network technology
  • Troubleshoots problems with computer network, hardware and software
  • Assists with setup, configuration and installation of computer equipment
  • Assists with installation, configuration and upgrade of operating systems and software
  • Conducts training for staff on computer hardware or software-related topics; prepares written documentation as required
  • Sets up video conference, laptop and projector for meetings

Significant Duties:

  • Creates and maintains user accounts
  • Provides support during the planning, design, research and acquisition of hardware and software system upgrades
  • Recommends modifications to OEA computing processes and standard operating procedures
  • Processes invoices for payment
  • Prepares for and makes arrangements for meetings and conferences
  • Communicates information to managers, co-workers and others in person, by telephone, in written form or e-mail
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings
  • Provides input into decision-making as it impacts associate staff functions
  • Performs duties related to job description
  • Provides support for organizing plans and practices for engaging members
  • Maintains confidential records and files
  • Operates in a collaborative team environment

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications and Windows desktop environment, including the ability to support, troubleshoot, and guide staff in the effective use of technology tools and features.
  • Sharepoint and One Drive support experience
  • Network and A+ certifications preferred
  • Three (3) years of computer technical support experience 
  • Advanced skill in use of software applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally

Authority and Relationships:

Responsible to the immediate supervisor; recommends policy and procedure changes to and through the immediate supervisor.
