Job description

Do you take pride in perfectly prepared steel?

If you thrive on precision and clean, consistent finishes, Hamilton Tanks needs your expertise. In this role, you will use abrasive blasting media to remove scale, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt from steel tanks and create the specified surface profile. You will confirm the final finish meets quality requirements and work closely with our Shop Supervisor.

What you will tackle
  • Pre-clean parts to remove grease and dirt
  • Load the correct grade of sand, grit, or steel shot into hoppers
  • Start up, inspect, and maintain blasting equipment; set and regulate pressures and media flow
  • Direct blast nozzles for effective removal; supplement with scrapers, brushes, or abrasive papers as needed
  • Review finished surfaces against quality specifications before moving to coatings
How you will succeed
  • Stand comfortably for more than 8 hours
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull 50 lbs as required
  • Navigate multiple walking surfaces (gravel, concrete, asphalt)
  • Twist, bend, and reach (forward and overhead) throughout the shift
  • Wear respiratory protection for over 4 hours per day
Your background
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous abrasive blasting or related experience preferred
  • Knowledge of field concepts, practices, and procedures, or a strong willingness to train on additional equipment and processes
  • Working knowledge of manual sand and grit blasting machines, materials, and processes
  • Comfort with hand tools (chipping hammer, wire brush) and power tools (grinder, belt sander, palm sander)
  • Track record of safe work practices
  • Visual acuity and 70-degree peripheral perception
Team and growth

You will report directly to the Shop Supervisor and partner with fabrication and coatings to keep projects moving on schedule.
