Job description

Skillforce is hiring a Carpenter / Construction Laborer at a large data center project in the Johnstown, OH area, paying $32-$35/hr, 40+ hours per week, weekly pay. In this role you’ll work primarily as part of the general labor crew (material handling, site cleanup, assisting multiple trades) while using your carpentry skills as needed to build safety railings and complete other light carpentry tasks. If you’re an experienced carpenter who doesn’t mind jumping in with the labor team and working safely in a fast‑paced commercial jobsite, we want to talk to you.

Pay & Schedule:

  • $32.00-35.00 per hour, paid weekly.
  • Full-time, 40+ hours per week.
  • Monday–Friday, day shift, with overtime as needed based on project demands.

Carpenter Responsibilities:

  • Perform general labor tasks on an active commercial construction site, including material handling, site prep, cleanup, and support for multiple trade crews.
  • Load, unload, and stage materials, tools, and equipment so field crews can work efficiently across the jobsite.
  • Build and install temporary and permanent safety railings and related carpentry items as directed by site supervision, ensuring they meet company and OSHA safety standards.
  • Assist skilled trade crews as needed, which may include basic carpentry, mechanical, or other construction tasks depending on daily priorities.
  • Follow direction from site supervisors and trade leads to keep work areas safe, organized, and moving on schedule.
  • Maintain OSHA‑compliant work habits at all times, including proper PPE use, housekeeping, and adherence to jobsite safety plans.
  • Adapt to shifting task assignments and trade support needs in a fast‑paced, multi‑trade environment.

Carpenter Requirements:

  • 2+ years of verifiable experience in carpentry
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and reliable personal transportation
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required; candidates must supply their own (hard hat, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hi-vis vest, gloves)
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and eligible to meet facility security access requirements
  • Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to use both powered and manual tools
