The Assembly Supervisor is responsible for shift-level leadership of production and gift assembly operations at the Obetz facility. This role ensures daily execution of assembly schedules, workforce deployment, quality standards, and food safety compliance in a high-volume, seasonal environment.

As an exempt leader, the Assembly Supervisor exercises independent judgment in staffing allocation, workflow prioritization, and performance management to meet production targets and service level commitments. This position plays a critical role in protecting product quality, throughput, and workforce engagement while maintaining strict adherence to GMP and SQF standards.

Scope of Responsibility

  • Direct leadership of 20-50+ associates, scaling significantly during peak seasons
  • Ownership of shift-level assembly KPIs: productivity, quality, scrap reduction, safety, and schedule adherence
  • Workforce planning and labor deployment aligned to daily production forecasts
  • Frontline food safety, compliance, and audit readiness

Key Responsibilities

Production & Assembly Execution

  • Lead daily assembly operations including kitting, gift building, palletizing, and line balancing
  • Ensure production schedules are executed accurately and on time
  • Monitor workflow and remove bottlenecks to maintain throughput targets
  • Optimize line efficiency and labor utilization
  • Escalate production risks and recommend corrective actions to Sr. Manager, Assembly

Performance & Operational Metrics

  • Drive achievement of daily and weekly production KPIs
  • Monitor productivity, quality defects, scrap rates, and rework trends
  • Implement corrective actions to improve efficiency and reduce waste
  • Support cost control initiatives through disciplined labor management

Workforce Leadership & Development

  • Supervise, coach, and develop frontline associates and leads
  • Conduct performance evaluations and administer corrective action when necessary
  • Lead onboarding and training of new and seasonal associates
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and teamwork
  • Partner with HR to address attendance, retention risks, and employee relations matters

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Collaborate with Fulfillment, Inventory Control, and Receiving teams to ensure material availability
  • Communicate production capacity and constraints proactively
  • Support peak staffing and production ramp planning
  • Partner with Maintenance to address equipment or line disruptions

Safety, Compliance & Quality

  • Enforce adherence to all safety standards and company policies
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, SQF, and food safety regulations
  • Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready production areas
  • Promote a proactive safety culture and immediately address safety risks

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of operational leadership experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in production, manufacturing, assembly, or high-volume operations
  • 2+ years of direct supervisory experience in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience managing seasonal workforce scaling
  • Strong understanding of production metrics and labor management
  • Working knowledge of GMP, food safety standards, and quality controls
  • Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and lead teams with minimal oversight
  • Flexibility to work extended hours during peak seasons

Preferred

  • Experience in food production, CPG, or high-volume direct-to-consumer assembly
  • Exposure to Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Bilingual capability aligned to workforce demographics

Leadership Competencies

  • Execution-focused with strong production discipline
  • Quality and food safety advocate
  • Data-driven decision maker
  • Clear and confident communicator
  • High accountability and ownership mindset
  • Adaptable in seasonal, high-pressure environments
  • Collaborative team leader
