Job description

Amazon internships across all seasons are full-time positions, and interns should expect to work in office, Monday-Friday, up to 40 hours per week typically between 8am-5pm. Specific team norms around working hours will be communicated by your manager. Interns should not have conflicts such as classes or other employment during the Amazon work-day. Applicants should have a minimum of one quarter/semester/trimester remaining in their studies after their internship concludes.

Key job responsibilities
We are currently seeking an energetic Data Center Project Engineer to serve as a technical resource within Amazon data centers. You will be part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling the most fascinating challenges in designing, building, and operating Amazon data center facilities.
The team is ultimately responsible for project oversight and review of all disciplines including electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural. A fundamental understanding of these systems is required, as the individual will be expected to identify areas for improvement as well as act on data provided from other teams and organizations. Ideal candidates will possess the ability to design, develop and deploy innovative solutions to address operational challenges.
This role requires both independent contribution as well as the ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams. The scope of projects will include but is not limited to the improvement of electrical, mechanical, fire detection and building automation system.
A day in the life
If you are passionate about the Customer Experience; you think and act globally; and you want to contribute to the operational excellence of Amazon data centers, then this may be the challenge you have been looking for!
This position will be hands on in one of our data centers in Virginia, Oregon, Ohio, Texas, Georgia, or Washington. Daily onsite hours could begin as early as 6am. This is a field based role so a drivers license is required along with reliable transportation to travel amongst the various data centers in your assigned area.
This position will require the ability to communicate with a variety of vendors, people, and teams with a high level of customer service.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Are enrolled in a academic program that is physically located in the United States
- Knowledge of Power Systems, Fluid Dynamics, or Thermodynamics
- Experience using a variety of web-based and other software tools for calculation and data processing
- Are 18 years of age or older
- Work 40 hours/week minimum and commit to 12 week internship
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or a similar field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of commercial or industrial power systems or mechanical systems
- Experience with AI/ML technologies
- Prior relevant internship experience
- Knowledge of HVAC systems
- Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
