    About us
Worley is a global company of energy, chemicals and resources experts headquartered in Australia. We partner with our customers to deliver projects and create value across the life of their assets. We specialize in consulting, engineering, procurement and construction across the project lifecycle, with services extending through to operations and decommissioning. Leveraging extensive experience and AI-enabled delivery, we support customers in navigating complexity as they meet today's needs and transition to more sustainable solutions.
As a Materials Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring project materials are planned, controlled, and delivered efficiently to support successful project execution. You will collaborate with engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and project management teams to develop and implement materials management strategies that keep projects moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule. If you thrive in a fast-paced EPC/EPCM environment, enjoy solving complex challenges, and are passionate about leading high-performing teams, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
    Purpose of the Role
Play an integral role in delivering effective materials management across complex EPC/EPCM projects. You will be responsible for developing and executing project materials strategies that ensure quality materials are available when and where they are needed while optimizing cost, minimizing surplus, and supporting safe, efficient construction activities.
As the primary materials management interface across project disciplines, you will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all materials management activities, ensuring alignment with project objectives, customer expectations, and Worley's standards and procedures.
    Core Responsibilities
    You will be responsible for:
    • Leading all aspects of project materials management from planning through final disposition of project materials.
    • Developing and implementing project-specific Materials Management Strategies, Plans, Procedures, and Materials Responsibility Matrices.
    • Managing the day-to-day activities and workload of the materials management team, providing leadership, coaching, and technical guidance.
    • Ensuring compliance with Worley policies, procedures, delegated authority requirements, and the Worley Code of Conduct.
    • Coordinating materials management activities across engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, fabrication, and project management teams.
    • Planning project material requirements by aligning engineering deliverables, construction priorities, procurement schedules, and project execution plans.
    • Overseeing the safe receipt, preservation, storage, handling, security, issuing, and disposal of project materials.
    • Developing bulk materials procurement and execution strategies that support project schedules and minimize waste.
    • Identifying appropriate contingency requirements for bulk materials to effectively manage fabrication and construction losses.
    • Monitoring material availability, shortages, delivery status, and inventory levels while proactively resolving supply chain challenges.
    • Coordinating and supporting the development of Construction Work Packages (CWP), Advanced Work Packages (AWP), and Procurement Work Packages (PWP).
    • Ensuring accurate and timely maintenance of materials management data within enterprise systems such as AVEVA ERM, SmartPlant Materials, SAP, Oracle, or equivalent platforms.
    • Producing and analyzing materials reports, shortage reports, inventory reports, and performance metrics to support project decision-making.
    • Participating in project risk assessments and identifying materials-related risks while developing practical mitigation strategies.
    • Working closely with suppliers, procurement teams, and project stakeholders to ensure materials are delivered safely, efficiently, and according to project requirements.
    • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance materials management processes, systems, and project performance.
    • Coaching and developing team members while fostering a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment.
    • Encouraging innovation and sharing best practices that improve materials management outcomes across projects.

What You'll Bring to the Role
You are an experienced materials management professional who understands how critical effective planning, coordination, and execution are to successful project delivery. You build strong relationships across multidisciplinary teams, communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, and confidently lead teams through complex project challenges.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
    • 8-10 years of progressive experience in Materials Control or Materials Management within EPC or EPCM project environments.
    • Demonstrated experience leading materials management teams on large, complex industrial projects.
    • Strong knowledge of EPC/EPCM materials management processes, systems, and industry best practices.
    • Experience managing the complete materials lifecycle from planning through receipt, storage, distribution, preservation, and final disposition.
    • Strong understanding of construction-driven materials planning and coordination across engineering, procurement, fabrication, and construction functions.
    • Experience supporting pipe, structural steel, and module fabrication activities.
    • Working knowledge of Construction Work Packages (CWP), Advanced Work Packages (AWP), and Procurement Work Packages (PWP).
    • Experience using enterprise materials management systems such as AVEVA ERM, SmartPlant Materials, SAP, Oracle, MMS, or similar platforms.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze complex datasets and develop meaningful reports.
    • Experience using reporting and visualization tools such as Power BI or other data analytics platforms.
    • Excellent leadership, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse, multidisciplinary, and geographically dispersed teams.
    • The ability to identify project risks early and implement practical solutions that support project success.
    • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
    • Flexibility to travel for project assignments and work adjusted schedules when project needs require.
