Job description

Your work days are brighter here.

At Workday, it all began with a conversation over breakfast. When our founders met at a sunny California diner, they came up with an idea to revolutionize the enterprise software market. And when we began to rise, one thing that really set us apart was our culture. A culture which was driven by our value of putting our people first. And ever since, the happiness, development, and contribution of every Workmate is central to who we are. Our Workmates believe a healthy employee-centric, collaborative culture is the essential mix of ingredients for success in business. That’s why we look after our people, communities and the planet while still being profitable. Feel encouraged to shine, however that manifests: you don’t need to hide who you are. You can feel the energy and the passion, it's what makes us unique. Inspired to make a brighter work day for all and transform with us to the next stage of our growth journey? Bring your brightest version of you and have a brighter work day here.

About the Team

As part of the Strategic Planning Finance team, you will help us on our mission to enhance Workday’s growth and long term value creation by enabling data driven decisions that drive the optimal portfolio allocation and strategy for Workday.
Our team works closely with leaders from across the organization including (but not limited to) Business Finance, Business Operations, Strategy, Sales, Product, Corporate Development, and IT. We are a group of highly motivated, analytical self-starters with a growth mindset driving critical decisions and process changes with a financial lens.

About the Role

In this role, you will collaborate cross functionally to collect and analyze large data sets to advise strategic decisions for Workday senior leadership. Additionally, this role supports the team in driving continuous improvement to planning processes, systems & tools, and modeling. This individual contributor role has significant exposure to senior leadership and reports to the Director of Strategic Planning Finance.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for preparing and presenting quarterly business analysis on key business performance metrics and drivers.

  • Responsible for key work streams in our Long Range Planning process including translation of strategic investment assumptions into modeled drivers of top line performance for specific business segments.

  • Analyze large data sets (e.g. ARR, ACV, KPIs, cost allocations) across Workday and peers to unlock insights about our business, and summarize for executive level audiences.

  • Support M&A deal modeling, strategic integration planning, and continuous operational improvement in close partnership with Corporate Development.

  • Frequently build executive level presentations that optimally communicate sophisticated financial analysis in a simple and actionable manner.

  • Assist in handling Workday’s Total Shareholder Return model for analyzing decision scenarios and their impact on expected shareholder value.

  • Assist in the migration of excel based financial models & reports to Workday Planning and Reporting applications to drive more scalable operations.

  • Collaborate across Finance, IT, Business Operations, and Strategy to ensure data quality and the accuracy of insights we present to executive leadership.

About You

We are looking for a skilled collaborator who will roll up their sleeves to dive deep into the data, with the ability to zoom out to see the big picture. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial planning & company operations, strong analytical and modeling skills, and outstanding communication skills.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience across strategic finance, business operations, strategy/management consulting.

  • 2+ years Financial modeling experience & analytical skills with a focus on building scalable, repeatable tools & processes.

Other Qualifications:

  • Solution oriented approach in face of obstacles; Assist and coordinate other teams through challenges to meet a common goal.

  • High degree of curiosity with the ability and appetite to learn new things.

  • Understanding of the software industry, corporate operations structure & cadence, and its success metrics/drivers.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.
