Whatnot Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Program Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Program Manager, you need expertise in project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and a solid understanding of program life cycles, often supported by a bachelor's degree and experience in project or program management. Familiarity with tools like Microsoft Project, Jira, and certifications such as PMP or PgMP is typically required. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help in coordinating cross-functional teams and managing stakeholder expectations. These skills ensure that complex programs are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with organizational goals.

How does a Program Manager typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals?

Program Managers work closely with cross-functional teams such as engineering, marketing, finance, and operations to align project objectives with organizational strategy. They facilitate communication, coordinate resources, and manage dependencies across teams to ensure milestones are met on schedule. Regular meetings, status updates, and transparent documentation are key practices, helping to address challenges proactively and keep everyone on track. This collaborative approach not only drives program success but also builds strong professional relationships across the organization.

What is program management?

Program management is the coordinated oversight and management of multiple related projects that align with an organization's strategic objectives. Program managers ensure that projects within a program are executed efficiently, risks are managed, and benefits are realized. They focus on aligning project outcomes with business goals, optimizing resources, and communicating progress to stakeholders. Unlike project managers, who handle individual projects, program managers oversee a collection of projects to deliver greater value.

What is the difference between Program Management vs Project Management?

AspectProgram ManagementProject Management
FocusOversees multiple related projects to achieve strategic objectivesManages individual projects to meet specific goals
ScopeBroader, involving multiple projects and stakeholdersNarrower, focused on specific deliverables
ResponsibilitiesAligns projects with organizational strategy, manages interdependenciesPlans, executes, and closes individual projects
CertificationsPMP, PgMP often preferredPMP commonly required

While both roles require strong organizational and leadership skills, program management focuses on coordinating multiple projects to achieve strategic goals, whereas project management concentrates on delivering specific project outcomes efficiently.

    Role

As an Influencer Marketing Manager, you'll own influencer strategy and execution across Whatnot's paid influencer program. You'll manage a portfolio of creator relationships spanning top-tier and macro talent down to high-performing mid-tier creators. You're someone who can operate within an existing system, iterate on it, and build the next version of it - bringing structure and instinct in equal measure.

You'll report on key success metrics and proactively drive toward program-level goals.

    Secure strategic partners

    • Identify, outreach, and close deals with the most impactful influencers across YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram. Own these relationships end-to-end - from first contact to long-term performance.

    Drive the pipeline

    • Influencer Strategy: Develop campaigns that map to specific creator archetypes and activation formats, partnering closely with the Category Marketing team.

    • Outreach: Source and reach creators through email, DM, or whatever creative channel gets results.

    • Dealmaking: Negotiate contracts in line with CAC, FTB, and LTV targets. Drive the internal approval process to signature.

    • Account Management: Provide white glove support to partners, ensuring a strong product understanding, high-quality content, on-time delivery, and prompt payment.

    Scale growth

    • Build and manage a scalable creator roster - from macro and top-tier relationships that drive outsized impact to a bench of mid-tier creators that can be activated at volume.

We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our San Francisco, New York City, or Los Angeles hubs.

    You

People who do well at Whatnot tend to be comfortable figuring things out as they go, biased toward action, and genuinely curious about what they're building. They care more about outcomes than credit and stay close to the product and the people using it. As our next Influencer Marketing Manager, you should have 4+ years of influencer marketing experience, plus:

    • Proven track record running end-to-end influencer campaigns that deliver performance-driven results - you've owned the full deal lifecycle from sourcing through execution.

    • Experience managing top-tier and macro creator relationships, with the instincts to know when to push, when to hold, and how to unlock outsized value from a partnership.

    • Comfortable operating across creator tiers - you can work a macro deal and build a mid-tier roster in the same week.

    • Experience in a high-growth organization where you've had to own a lot, move fast, and figure things out - adapting to a fast-paced environment and pivoting quickly as needed.

    • You're immersed in internet culture and can use that knowledge to identify trends, creators, and opportunities for the Whatnot brand to build and grow.

    • Strong at writing creative briefs and providing clear direction to creators - you know what good content looks like and can articulate why.

    • Deeply analytical and comfortable using data to drive decisions, iterate on strategy, and report out on program performance.

    • You thrive in ambiguity. You can take an open-ended challenge, form a point of view, and execute - and you're just as comfortable improving an existing playbook as you are building a new one.

    • You're scrappy and flexible. You get in the weeds and no job is too small.

    Benefits
    • Flexible Time off Policy and Company-wide Holidays (including a spring and winter break)

    • Health Insurance options including Medical, Dental, Vision

    • Work From Home Support

      • $1,000 home office setup allowance

      • $150 monthly allowance for cell phone and internet

    • Care benefits

      • $450 monthly allowance on food

      • $500 monthly allowance for wellness

      • $5,000 annual allowance towards Childcare

      • $20,000 lifetime benefit for family planning, such as adoption or fertility expenses

    • Retirement; 401k offering for Traditional and Roth accounts in the US (employer match up to 4% of base salary) and Pension plans internationally

    • Parental Leave

      • 16 weeks of paid parental leave + one month gradual return to work *company leave allowances run concurrently with country leave requirements which take precedence.
