Job description

A Service Technician works under the guidance of an account manager on installations, alternations, additions, and/or repairs of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment. A Service Technician may oversee, direct and/or mentor a crew of 1 to 5 apprentices or helpers on larger projects. 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform any and all duties of a journeyman electrician.
  • Mentor assigned apprentices. Oversee and instruct on the safe operation of tools and equipment, electrical principles and applicable codes.
  • Complete required service documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Communicate and interact with clients in a professional manner.  Conduct walk-throughs with clients upon job completion to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor costs for the assigned work in conjunction with the account manager or service manager.
  • May perform small field estimates in conjunction with an account manager or service manager.
  • Operate and maintain service vehicle according to company policy.  Perform weekly maintenance, monthly safety inspections, monthly tool inventories and monthly material inventories.
  • Maintain availability for after-hours on-call work rotation.
  • Maintain a clean and safe driving record.
  • Perform other project-related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
  • Ensure all work is performed within the confines of Walker's safety policies, procedures and guidelines.

 Position Requirements

  • Licenses: Electrical Journeyman's License preferred and a current Driver's License required
  • Education: High school graduate, GED or equivalent;
  • Experience: 5+ years' of practical electrical experience in the field
  • Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills.
  • Must understand basic electrical theory and its application to installations.
  • Must be able to successfully pass company drug-screen and physical tests and work occasional overtime as required.
  • Availability for on-call rotation is mandatory.
  • Must maintain a neat and professional image at all times.  Wear company-issued shirts, approved work pants and work boots.
