Job Summary:
The Registered Nurse specializing in Emergency Room (ER) care is responsible for delivering skilled nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting. This role involves patient assessment, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients facing urgent medical conditions. The nurse must maintain strong communication skills and be adept at working under pressure in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and document findings accurately.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Respond promptly to emergency situations and provide critical care interventions as needed.
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records and documentation.
- Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans and discharge instructions.
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
- Certification in ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support).
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a hospital or emergency room setting preferred.
- Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience working in emergency nursing or critical care environments.
- Additional certifications related to emergency nursing or trauma care.
Special Considerations:
- Must hold a New York nursing license at the time of hire.
- Position requires working every other weekend.
- Travelers accepted; local candidates must reside within a 75-mile radius.
- Work environment is fast-paced and high acuity typical of emergency departments.
Scheduling:
- Three 12-hour shifts per week, primarily mid-shift or night shift.
- Contract length is 8 weeks with possible extension.
- Shift assignments may include weekends on an every-other-weekend rotation.
