We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Roadway Engineer/Project Manager to support our Gulf Region located in Mississippi and/or Tennessee.


Candidates should be based in or open to relocating to Mississippi or Tennessee.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide plan review and project management for DOT and local municipal projects
  • Coordinate project activities, schedules, and reporting for assigned work
  • Prepare, issue, and track project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and client approvals
  • Develop correspondence and documentation for clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies
  • Support project financial processes, including invoices and purchase orders
  • Prepare and edit meeting minutes, reports, and presentations
  • Assist with project submittals and bidding activities
  • Provide technical and administrative support to the project team
  • Support client relationships and contribute to business development with local municipalities

What you need to have:

  • BS in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
  • 10+ years of experience in roadway design
  • Previous DOT experience
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Proven ability to meet DOT standards, schedules, and budgets
  • Proficiency in OpenRoads (Geopak experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of DOT design methods, standards, and specifications
  • Demonstrated experience managing medium to large, multi-office, or concurrent projectsAbility to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
