Job description

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio as a credit officer.
  • Perform due diligence and regular portfolio reviews.
  • Analyze credit risk, determine accurate ratings, and recommend them to management.
  • Prepare detailed credit analysis and applications based on policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate borrower's industry, business, legal, and financial risks.
  • Recommend credit extensions to management.
  • Collaborate with business lines to maintain portfolio safety and growth.
  • Share important account information with relevant teams across the bank.
  • Communicate directly with assigned customers.
Deal Support:
  • Identify and assess prospective transactions with business lines and product groups.
  • Spot structural risks and suggest improvements to deal structures and covenants.
  • Advise account officers on credit risk terms to maximize profit and minimize credit cost.
  • Communicate directly with the credit division, providing necessary information for decisions.
Policy Compliance & Mentoring:
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, policy, and procedural requirements.
  • Participate in policy meetings to improve the credit risk framework.
  • Support, mentor, and train junior analysts.
  • Guide junior analysts on complex assignments and skill development.
Basic Qualifications:
  • 6+ years of experience in credit or risk functions at financial institutions or similar.
  • At least 3 years of experience analyzing financial institutions and conducting due diligence.
  • Experience working with senior management of client organizations.
  • Strong corporate credit analysis and risk management knowledge.
  • Ability to create complex financial models for repayment assessment.
  • In-depth knowledge of loan documentation and structural risks in corporate finance.
  • Understanding of regulatory environments in Japan (FSA, BOJ) and the U.S. (FRB, FDIC).
