Job description

Pearl at Kalauao, located in Aiea, HI, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Full-Time Assistant Golf Professional! We are seeking a motivated individual who is interested in contributing to a positive experience for our members and guests while continuing to grow their knowledge of golf club operations. As an associate of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.
Compensation:
$15.00-$18.00 per hour.
General Purpose
Assists in administering all daily operations, including but not limited to: facilitating sales, assisting with merchandise, operating the POS system, managing handicap and tee sheet applications, and working ranger, starter, guest relations, outside service, or golf shop shifts.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provides a memorable guest experience
  • Assists in managing the facility and staff
  • Processes customer reservations for guests of the golf course
  • Assists in coordinating individual, group, and tournament play as directed by the Golf Operations Manager and/or Head Golf Professional
  • Assumes the Golf Operations Manager's duties in his or her absence
  • Produces daily reports on rounds, sales, and other relevant data for management
  • Oversees the Outside Guest Services department and personnel
  • Works closely with the OGS to monitor all aspects of play, including guest satisfaction, starting, pace of play, safety on the course, and golf course markings
  • Provides customer service to arriving guests to help expedite the check-in process
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements
  • One to two years of golf industry experience preferred
  • College degree (PGM) preferred
  • PGA Member or Apprentice
  • Must have strong customer/guest orientation skills
  • Must have strong communication skills
  • Must have highly polished interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with people easily and quickly
  • Must have basic computer skills
  • Must be dependable

Physical Demands
  • Regularly stands, walks, and sits; occasionally climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crawls, or crouches
  • Frequently uses hands and reaches with hands and arms
  • Frequently talks or hears, tastes or smells; occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds

Environment/Noise
  • Occasionally works in wet or humid conditions (non-weather)
  • Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions
  • Noise level is moderate

Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences
  • Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job (e.g., associates are required to communicate with English-speaking customers or co-workers; equipment manuals may be in English)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience with computerized POS and tee time systems
