Job description

TITLE:  Senior Data Modeler
TYPE:  Contract
LOCATION:  100% Remote, HQ is in PA
ONSITE/REMOTE/HYBRID:   100% Remote
START DATE:  July/August 2026
We are seeking a Senior Data Modeler to lead the design, development, and ongoing optimization of enterprise data structures. This role is responsible for translating complex business requirements into scalable data models that support product data and broader organizational initiatives. The ideal candidate will focus on improving data quality, reducing redundancy, and ensuring performance across a variety of database environments, including relational, dimensional, and NoSQL systems.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage schema updates, source system changes, and data ingestion issues within the platform
  • Define and structure product entities, attributes, hierarchies, relationships, and reference data
  • Translate business needs into data models, validation rules, and technical specifications
  • Design and implement data models within a master data management (MDM) environment
  • Develop and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for product-related domains
  • Contribute to automation efforts and follow best practices for code quality, version control, and continuous integration
  • Create and support outbound data integrations for downstream systems
  • Configure and support workflows related to product data creation, updates, and approvals
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, data governance teams, and engineering partners to ensure alignment
  • Perform data quality analysis and assist in resolving data-related issues
  • Maintain clear documentation for data models, standards, and definitions
  • Support system deployments, testing efforts, and production operations
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • Azure Data Engineer certification is preferred
  • Strong understanding of data modeling principles and database design best practices
  • Expertise in relational data modeling across conceptual, logical, and physical layers
  • Proficiency in SQL and working with complex data structures
  • Deep knowledge of normalization techniques and relational database design
  • Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail when working with large, complex datasets
  • Hands-on experience with master data management platforms
  • Familiarity with modern data tools and platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, Purview, Qlik, or Alteryx
  • Understanding of data governance and data management frameworks
  • Experience defining complex data relationships, hierarchies, and domain-specific structures
  • Ability to convert business requirements into effective technical data solutions
  • Experience with version control, testing methodologies, and deployment practices
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new tools and technologies
  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL is preferred
  • Knowledge of performance optimization and secure data design, including indexing strategies, partitioning, and efficient data structures is plus
