Title: Cloud Infrastructure Engineer (AWS/Terraform)
Duration: 3+ Months - Contract to hire
Location: Atlanta, GA || Charlotte, NC || Birmingham, AL Overview
We are seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer with strong AWS expertise to help build, secure, and manage cloud infrastructure supporting modern web applications and API ecosystems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), cloud security, and automation, along with a strong technical foundation in Python and networking.
This role will work closely with engineering and security teams to design scalable cloud environments, identify vulnerabilities, and support secure API deployments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure for web applications and API platforms.
- Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Build, maintain, and optimize Terraform modules and reusable infrastructure components.
- Monitor cloud environments and proactively identify security vulnerabilities and risks.
- Support API security initiatives, including experience with API protection platforms such as Akamai API Security.
- Collaborate with development teams to implement secure, scalable, and reliable cloud solutions.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily Scrum meetings and sprint planning activities.
- Contribute to infrastructure automation and operational excellence initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure management.
- Experience implementing and managing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
- Background in Python programming and automation scripting.
- Understanding of cloud security principles and vulnerability management.
- Experience supporting web applications and API-based architectures.
- Ability to work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with API security solutions, particularly Akamai API Security.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, including DNS, routing, load balancing, firewalls, and network security.
- Experience building reusable Terraform modules.
- Familiarity with GitHub and modern development tools, including AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent practical experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
Work Environment
- Hybrid work model.
- Required to work onsite three days per week at one of the company's designated office locations.
