Job Description and Requirements
We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services.
You Are
You are an experienced C++ engineer who builds performant, maintainable software for production systems where scale, efficiency, and reliability are critical. RedHawk-SC requires someone who can take ownership of substantial technical work across the full development cycle, from design and implementation through debugging, testing, optimization, and delivery. You are comfortable working in complex Linux-based environments and understand how to diagnose issues in large C++ codebases with a disciplined focus on correctness, maintainability, and long-term quality. Performance tuning is a core part of how you think, whether improving runtime, reducing memory usage, or ensuring the platform can handle large, complex analysis workloads. Semiconductor fundamentals are not abstract to you; you understand gate-level and transistor-level behavior, power delivery networks, and the power integrity problems that arise in advanced SoC design. You know how to translate that domain knowledge into practical software improvements that help users solve real engineering problems. You work independently once goals are clear, collaborate effectively with technical leads, architects, and peers, and contribute through design discussions, code reviews, and strong engineering judgment. You are motivated by the opportunity to strengthen RedHawk-SC as a distributed analytics platform for power and reliability analysis in advanced semiconductor designs.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, developing, and owning significant features in RedHawk-SC, a distributed platform for power and reliability analysis in advanced SoC designs
- Driving medium-sized technical projects from design through implementation, testing, debugging, and delivery with limited oversight
- Optimizing runtime performance, memory efficiency, and overall scalability across large datasets and complex production workloads
- Diagnosing and resolving complex defects in C++ on Linux, with strong attention to code quality, maintainability, and system behavior
- Building and strengthening unit, regression, and system-level test coverage to improve reliability and reduce escape risk
- Collaborating with technical leads, architects, and peer engineers to refine designs, review tradeoffs, and integrate robust solutions
- Contributing to code reviews, design discussions, and technical problem-solving that raise the quality of the broader codebase
- Supporting the continued evolution of the platform so it can meet the demands of emerging power integrity and reliability challenges in advanced semiconductor design
The Impact You Will Have
- Improve the performance, scalability, and reliability of RedHawk-SC, helping the platform handle increasingly large and complex SoC analysis workloads
- Deliver software that enables semiconductor engineers to solve critical power integrity and reliability challenges in advanced chip designs
- Strengthen the platform's ability to support emerging design complexity, including FinFET, 3D-IC, and stacked-die architecture
- Raise the quality bar across the codebase through disciplined testing, thoughtful debugging, and maintainable C++ development practices
- Contribute features and system improvements that directly support customer needs and extend the value of RedHawk-SC in production environments
- Help the team move faster and more confidently by improving software robustness, reducing defects, and supporting better engineering decisions
What You'll Need
- BSEE, BSCS, or related field with 8+ years of experience, or master's with 6+ years, or PhD with relevant experience
- C++ development skills, including debugging, performance optimization, and memory management
- Experience working in Linux development environments
- Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and debugging complex software systems
- Understanding of electronic design at gate or transistor level, including power delivery networks, timing, or physical design
- Developing software for performance, scale, and reliability
- Experience working with distributed systems, Python, or ASIC power delivery network simulation is a plus
Who You Are
- You take ownership of technical work and move it forward with limited oversight
- You write production-quality codes that other engineers can read, maintain, and extend
- You communicate technical issues and tradeoffs clearly
- You contribute well in cross-functional engineering discussions and design reviews
- You are a strong collaborator and a dependable technical partner
The Team You'll Be Part Of
You will join the RedHawk-SC Research and Development team, building state-of-the-art software for semiconductor power and reliability analysis. The platform uses distributed big-data analytics to tackle challenges in advanced SoC design, including electromigration, thermal effects, and power noise integrity in FinFET, 3D-IC, and stacked-die architectures.
Rewards and Benefits
We offer a comprehensive range of health, wellness, and financial benefits to cater to your needs. Our total rewards include both monetary and non-monetary offerings. Your recruiter will provide more details about the salary range and benefits during the hiring process.
