Job description

Gallery Host

Help welcome and orient school groups to the galleries during OMCA field trips. Gallery Hosts make sure students, teachers, and chaperones feel welcome by warmly greeting groups as they enter galleries, sparking student curiosity, and supporting teachers and chaperones with gallery logistics and materials such as clipboards, pencils, and activity handouts.

Your Role:

  • Welcome and orient school groups to the galleries.
  • Engage self-guided school groups in casual conversations about the exhibitions and galleries.
  • Assist adults and students with group management, wayfinding, encourage exploration, and serve as a hospitality resource.
  • This role primarily works indoors.

Scheduling:

  • 9:30am-1pm on Wednesdays
  • 10:30am-2pm on Thursdays and Fridays
  • Minimum two shifts per month

Training requirements beyond OMCA volunteer orientation:

  • Gallery host orientation (2.5 hours).

Interested? Please send an email with your interest to  volunteer@museumca.org to receive further information regarding signing up and information sessions.

If youโ€™re already an OMCA volunteer, sign up for our next training session through Shiftboard.
