    Job description

Ever since we started in 2007, Sunrun has been at the forefront of connecting people to the cleanest energy on Earth. It's why we've become the #1 home solar and battery company in America. Today, we're on a mission to change the way the world interacts with energy, and we're building a company and brand that puts power at the center of life. And we're doing it by designing a dynamic culture where employee development, well-being, and safety come first. We're unlike any other solar company. Our vertically integrated model gives us total control over every part of the energy lifecycle - from sale through installation and beyond - so you can find endless opportunities for growth. Come join a career you can grow in and a culture you can run with.
We're looking for an experienced professional to lead the coordination of leave of absence requests, disability programs, and life insurance administration. This is a hands-on role that balances high-level subject matter expertise with daily administrative execution. You will manage individual role accommodations and facilitate return-to-work arrangements under various federal, state, and local laws. As a subject matter expert, you will ensure seamless and compliant management of both leave and associated benefit plans, providing optimum customer service to employees and stakeholders while executing high-level policy, regulatory protocols, and essential day-to-day administrative workflows.
    Responsibilities
    • Leave & Disability Management: Manage the full spectrum of LOA and accommodation requests (FMLA, state/local, military, parental, ADA). Advise employees and management on eligibility, compliance, and coverage.
    • Life Insurance Administration: Oversee life insurance processes, including managing Evidence of Insurability (EOI) events, auditing beneficiary/coverage data, and ensuring accurate transmissions to carriers.
    • Operational Support: Provide hands-on support including correspondence, tracking, and HRIS/vendor system updates. Handle escalation cases and support projects focused on LOA and Life Insurance technology.
    • ADA & Interactive Process: Provide input and consultation to the business on accommodation and restriction suggestions received from the Third-Party Administrator (TPA), ensuring compliance with the ADA and regulatory protocols.
    • Audit & Compliance: Execute critical bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual audits, including Life Insurance census reconciliations, PTO/FTO reporting, and COBRA/Benefits termination audits related to leave events.
    • Return-to-Work: Support and manage the administration of return-to-work processes, ensuring smooth transitions for both employees and management.
    • Employee Relations Support: Support corrective action or termination warnings for failures to interact properly under company policies
    • Project Management: Lead and support various leave/benefit-related projects, including Workday enhancements, process documentation, and the rollout of new time-off programs.

    Job Requirements
    • Experience: Minimum 5 years of U.S. leave management experience, including advanced knowledge of FMLA, ADA, USERRA, and state/local regulations.
    • Systems: Minimum 2 years of hands-on Workday experience, specifically managing Leave of Absence (LOA) and Benefits/Life Insurance modules. Proficiency in Google Suite is preferred.
    • Technical Mastery: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency required. Must be highly skilled in VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, or Index/Match to cross-reference large datasets and reconcile vendor files.
    • Analytical Insight: Proven ability to clean and analyze large datasets to identify trends, ensure data integrity, and reconcile discrepancies (e.g., verifying Voluntary Life coverage against carrier records).
    • Innovation: Openness to leveraging AI tools (e.g., Gemini) to enhance data analysis and audit efficiency.
    • Communication: Superior interpersonal and consulting skills; ability to facilitate tough conversations and handle sensitive claims (e.g., employee deaths) with empathy and professionalism.
    • Problem Solving: Proven ability to evaluate complex issues, recognize escalating situations, and proactively seek partnership from stakeholders.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing AI tools to enhance productivity and streamline workflows, or possess the agility and "growth mindset" to rapidly master new AI technologies as they are integrated into Sunrun's operations.

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, employment law, compliance or equivalent work related experience. Professional certification in Disability Management or Benefits (CEBS) is a plus.
