Fire Protection Designer โ€“ Sprinkler Systems

Employment Type: Full-Time

A well-established and growing fire protection contractor in Minnesota is seeking a Fire Protection Designer to support the design, planning, and coordination of fire sprinkler systems from concept through installation. This role is integral to delivering high-quality, code-compliant life safety systems and works closely with internal teams and external partners throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate brings hands-on sprinkler design experience, a strong understanding of applicable codes, and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed fire sprinkler system design drawings and specifications
  • Review and apply building codes, fire codes, and jurisdictional requirements to ensure full compliance
  • Prepare material lists and support fabrication and installation planning
  • Participate in coordination meetings and collaborate with project teams from design through installation
  • Serve as a technical resource for internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance related to fire sprinkler systems
  • Opportunity to support additional work within fire alarm and fire extinguisher systems, as needed
Qualifications & Experience
  • 2โ€“3+ years of experience in fire protection design, specifically sprinkler systems
  • Strong working knowledge of applicable fire and building codes
  • Proficiency with CAD software; experience with AutoSPRINK or Hydratec preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
Collaboration & Teamwork
  • Works closely with Project Managers, Estimators, Field Superintendents, and Fabrication teams
  • Builds and maintains strong working relationships with clients and internal partners
  • Assists with special projects as assigned
