Job description

SNC's Military Fellowship Program partners with programs such as SkillBridge and Hiring Our Heroes to provide fellowship opportunities to service members transitioning to the civilian workforce. These fellowships include up to six months of on-the-job industry training for eligible service members. During this time, participants gain valuable work experience in the civilian sector and build professional networks as they prepare for their transition to full-time civilian work.
NOTE: You must be currently serving on active duty to be eligible for this fellowship program. This program is not for veterans who have already separated from the military.
As an Environmental Qualification Engineer, you will assist with planning, executing, and monitoring equipment environmental qualification testing in support of civil and military environmental certification requirements. You will develop and implement the strategy for multiple programs, including coordinating activities throughout the product lifecycle from initiation through delivery and interfacing with external customers or field-based employees. You'll also review, manage, proactively challenge, and control status of project programs and budgets, manage schedules and prepare status reports, and lead teams in achieving the goals of the program including issue identification, resolution and contingency planning.The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation, it is a leading prime manned and unmanned aircraft systems integrator for innovative, high-performance ISR and aviation systems. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations - with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.

Responsibilities:

  • Environmental qualification database development and maintenance

  • Environmental qualification requirements allocation to individual equipment

  • Evaluation of qualification artifacts against equipment qualification requirements, including initial qualification gap assessments (assessment of existing data) and final evaluation of program artifacts

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Currently serving as active duty military and be eligible to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in a related field of study

  • Typically, 12+ years of progressive technical experience

  • Expert knowledge of engineering principles and practice

  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development team

  • Comprehensiveunderstanding of requirements management, system design, integration

  • Experience with FAA or military certification process

  • Exposure to equipment environmental qualification methods for FAA or military aircraft certification

  • Experience with civil and military standards, such as RTCA/DO-160G, MIL-STD-810H, and MIL-STD-461G

  • Experience performing qualification testing

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Typically 6-8 years of relevant leadership and/or project management experience

  • Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers

  • Preparation of templates for qualification plans, procedures, and reports for use by IPTs and subcontractors

  • Experience preparing test plans, procedures, and reports

  • Exposure to Commercial Derivative Aircraft (CDA) programs

  • Experience in a specialized field related to qualification, such as mechanical systems, electrical systems, structural dynamics, or electromagnetic effects

  • Coordination with and support of IPTs and subcontractors to ensure qualification requirements are understood and qualification plans are developed and successfully executed

  • Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management

  • Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions, and test procedure

  • Professional Certification in Program Management International (PMI) and/or Program Management Professional (PMP

  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standard

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry
