Our global, diverse team would be happy to support you and challenge you to grow in new ways. Who knows where our shared journey will take you?
    Transform the everyday with us!
We are seeking a Project Engineer - Utility Systems to join our team, supporting critical infrastructure projects across the electric power industry. This position was developed for engineers who want more than a single-product, transaction-based career - and who want to grow into a multi-functional, customer-facing technical leader. In this role, you'll begin by taking technical ownership of a core system, while progressively growing your expertise across substation and power plant projects, renewable generation (including solar), and overhead and underground distribution systems. As you develop mastery, you'll evolve into a hybrid engineering role that combines project engineering, application and offers engineering, and order engineering, becoming a single, trusted face to the customer from quotation through construction.
The Utility Systems & Solutions team at Siemens Electrification & Automation (EA) delivers utility-grade electrical systems that drive grid modernization and the energy transition across the entire generation, transmission, and distribution (GTD) value chain. We partner with utilities and EPCs to reduce project risk, accelerate deployment, and future-proof grids for reliability and decarbonization. We combine deep power-system expertise, digital-ready platforms, and proven EPC execution.
Our comprehensive, standards-compliant portfolio is engineered for exacting safety and lifecycle requirements. It includes:
    • MV switchgear (AIS & GIS) & outdoor circuit breakers
    • Protection and automation systems
    • Power equipment centers & distribution solutions
    • LV motor control centers & PV inverters

These turnkey solutions seamlessly deploy across critical infrastructure:
    • Generation: Conventional plants, renewables, and energy storage.
    • Transmission: Substations, switching stations, and grid interconnections.
    • Distribution: Feeder expansion, grid hardening, and customer electrification.

Our national headquarters is in Wendell, North Carolina- in the heart of the Research Triangle, about 20 minutes east of Raleigh. Enjoy top-rated schools, a mild four-season climate, easy access to mountains and coast, and a cost of living that lets your compensation go further than most major metros - without trade-offs.
This Project Engineer - Utility Systems position is based in Wendell, NC. Local candidates are encouraged to apply. Relocation assistance may be available if eligible.
    Why This Role Is Different
This is not a static engineering position. It is a career pathway. You'll gain broad, hands-on exposure across power generation, distribution, and transmission, end-to-end ownership with real customer impact, a clear path to expand into offers engineering, business development, and project leadership, and the opportunity to become a utility systems expert with unmatched technical and market versatility. If you're searching for a role where your expertise, influence, and value grow year after year, this is the opportunity.

    • Serve as a trusted technical partner to customers, utilities, EPCs, and internal collaborators.
    • Collaborate across engineering, sales, operations, and project teams to deliver integrated switchgear systems and solutions.
