    Job description

    Heavy Industrial Metal Siding and Roofing Carpenter
     
    The Industrial Metal Siding & Roofing Carpenter is responsible for installing exterior wall systems and roofing assemblies on commercial and heavy industrial structures. This role includes the installation of metal panels, insulation systems, weatherproofing components, and trim to ensure structural integrity, energy efficiency, and protection from environmental elements. Work is performed at heights and in active industrial environments with strict safety requirements.

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Reads blueprints, drawings, and sketches to fully grasp requirements
    • Installs insulated and uninsulated metal panels as directed
    • Installs rolled insulation as the panels are installed
    • Installs metal screw down and standing seam roof panels
    • Installs trim, flashings, and sealants
    • Connect pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, or using screws
    • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed
    • Measure, cut, shape, and install metal components
    • Install purlins, girts, bridging and framed openings 
    • Inspects work sites for obstructions or holes that could cause structural weakness
    • Checks work and repairs or corrects any faults
    • Takes personal responsibility for fostering a safe workplace by following safety policies and procedures
    • Assists other craft workers as needed or assigned
    KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
    • Experience with Insulated Metal Panels preferred
    • Knowledge of proper rigging techniques for the materials involved
    • Knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction
    • Knowledge of basic mathematics and its application
    • Ability to work successfully as a team and independently with moderate supervision
    • Ability to understand and follow directions, communicate effectively in both oral and written form
    • Ability to visualize a layout by looking at plans and prints

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Coordinate eye-hand movements with control and precision
    • Use hands and fingers fully; reach for, manipulate and feel objects; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
    • Climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures; and see and hear well (either naturally or with correction)
    • Familiar and comfortable with working from scissors lifts and boom lifts at great heights
    • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
    • Stoop, lay, bend or squat for long periods of time

     OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

    • Some overtime, weekends and holidays may be required
     
    REQUIRED TOOLS:
    Must possess and bring the following hand tools to each job site:
    Hammers Tape Measure (30') Chalk Line Carpenter's Pencil   Utility Knife   Speed Square
    Tin Snips   Framing Square Nail Puller  Levels/Plumb Bob Pliers  Wood Chisel
