    Heavy Industrial Ironworkers & Carpenters

    ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    Ironworkers

    • Responsible for laying out, fabricating, and installing structural steel and sheet metal in order to build metal structures. Welds and cuts steel, interprets blueprints, and works with concrete reinforcing steel bars.
    • Fabricates metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
    • Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting as needed.
    • Hoists steel beams, girders, or columns into place, using cranes or signaling hoisting equipment operators to lift and position structural steel members.
    • Maintain rigging equipment to ensure safety compliance
    • Move heavy materials, machinery  and equipment around worksites using rigging gear such as hoists, dolleys, rollers,  pulleys, and cranes
    • Operate Heavy Industrial Equipment such as Industrial Forklifts, Aerial Lifts, Skid Steers etc. 
    • May perform a variety of duties including those of other positions.

    Carpenters

    • Responsible for designing, building, installing, repairing structures, fixtures, and other items using different types of materials including wood and steel as well as setting concrete forms, performing concrete pours, and finish work as needed
    • Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
    • Assembles and secures forms, wood structures, sheet metal, and other various materials.
    • Installs form work, place steel reinforcement, install concrete, and finish as needed for concrete construction.
    • Takes measurements and calculates the size and amount of material needed.
    • Cuts, shapes and smooths lumber and other material according to needed measurements.Places, levels, and finishes concrete using a variety of carpentry and finishing toolsSmooths and finish surfaces using hand tools, floats, and power trowels
    • Ensures that all concrete work meets quality standards, project specifications, and safety requirements.
    • Installs metal siding/roofing, trim, flashing, and sealants as per blueprints and drawing specifications
    • May perform a variety of duties including those of other positions.

    *Journeyman wages dependent on experience and skill level.
