Job description
Medical Assistant
Williamsburg, Virginia Pay From: $20 per hour
MUST:
- Experienced medical assistant with 1 plus year of experience as a medical assistant
- Certified, registered as a medical assistant or willing to obtain
- Experience in OB/GYN
- Experience handling patient triaging
- Experience with EMR; knowledge of Athena is preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with phlebotomy is preferred
DUTIES:
- Medical assistant will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
- Answer all incoming calls
- Triage need of patient
- Make appointments when appropriate
- Listen to what the patient says, but also have the ability to interpret such subtle indications as the tone of voice, hesitations or incomplete responses
- Primary function is to be a liaison between physician and patient via electronic messaging
- Prepares and communicates messages to the physicians regarding patient requests for test results, and follow up care
- Prepares messages directly to physician for patient requests of prescription refills
- Explains and provides information to patients regarding any preparation a patient may need prior to testing
- Determine the patients need
- Record a patient's medical history accurately
- Take patient vitals
- Collect samples for lab testing
- Review patient's history to include medications, labs, diagnostic reports
- Room patients
- Assist with injections
- Set-up and break down rooms
