Position Summary

Are you looking for an exciting way to spend your summer gaining hands-on experience while having fun? Our paid internships with the Food and Beverage operations for the Memphis Redbirds Minor League Baseball team offer just that.

Interns at OVG become part of a dynamic, fast-paced environment where innovation, collaboration, and fresh ideas are encouraged and valued.

We are seeking Food and Beverage Interns who are passionate about pursuing a career in hospitality management and eager to learn alongside our venue's leadership team. In this role, you'll gain valuable insight into daily operations, with hands-on involvement in areas such as event planning, product ordering, invoice coding, point-of-sale operations, and scheduling. Throughout the program, you'll work both event and non-event days, strengthening your problem-solving and communication skills while developing leadership abilities that will set you apart. By the end of the internship, you'll leave with a strong foundation in hospitality management and meaningful connections with professionals who can support your next career steps.

This role pays an hourly rate of $16.00

This role is expected to last from May 18th, 2026 and will end on August 21st, 2026.

This position will remain open until July 10th, 2026.

About the Venue

At AutoZone Park, we provide food and beverage services for events such as Redbirds baseball games, concerts, and other community-focused gatherings. Our mission is to create unforgettable experiences while making a positive impact in the communities we serve. 

Responsibilities

As an intern, you will gain valuable experience in hospitality and event management by working alongside industry professionals and supporting a variety of daily operational tasks. Specifically, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Gain hands-on operational experience in planning, scheduling, and supervising a safe, efficient, and profitable food and beverage operation by assisting with day-to-day activities across concessions, premium services, picnics, and catering.
  • Develop skills using food and beverage systems for revenue management, including operating the POS system, receiving orders, processing invoices, and supporting inventory control and daily stand stocking.
  • Support the team by ensuring team members adhere to uniform and meal policies, helping maintain an exceptional guest experience and proper inventory control.
  • Collaborate with team members and nonprofit groups by creating daily information sheets, strengthening communication and coordination skills.
  • Hands-on experience in hospitality food and beverage operation
  • Exposure to working with nonprofit groups
  • Insight into delivering exceptional guest experiences for both internal and external guests
  • Development of skills in planning, ordering, inventory control, and productivity
  • Growth in leadership, problem-solving, and effective communication

Key Learnings:

  • Develop professional communication skills when interacting with both internal team members and external guests, including effective communication, active listening, and problem-solving.
  • Gain a strong understanding of product knowledge, including food and alcohol safety standards, cost control, and menu preparation.
  • Demonstrate effective time management by assisting with scheduling, maintaining speed of service, and handling multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strengthen teamwork and collaboration skills by working closely with back-of-house staff, understanding departmental workflows, and supporting team members during peak service periods.
  • Acquire basic accounting knowledge through the use of Point of Sale (POS) systems, processing invoices, and assisting with inventory management.
Qualifications

Required:

  • This internship is open only to students who are currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferrable in food and beverage management or hospitality.
  • Be a self-starter and self-motivated.
  • Must be comfortable working in an extremely busy environment.
  • The individual must be outgoing, energetic, motivated & professional.
  • Team player with excellent customer service and analytical skills
  • Proven ability to solve time-sensitive issues.
  • Possesses good organizational skills.
  • Proactive in making suggestions, creating new ideas & trouble shooting while paying close attention to detail.

Preferred (Nice-to-have):

  • Have experience in catering, concessions, and/ or alcohol service to the public in a hospitality setting is highly recommended.
  • Prior experience with point of sales systems
  • SERV Safe Certification and TIPS Certification, preferred.
