    NTT DATA America seeks a Canadian Corporate Counsel to join our Legal Department's Employment Law team. Working closely with senior legal counsel, Human Resources, Compliance, and business leaders, the Junior Legal Counsel will provide practical legal advice on Canadian employment matters, workplace investigations, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and related legal issues. The successful candidate will gain exposure to a wide range of legal and business matters while helping the organization manage risk and maintain compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

    Responsibilities include:

    • Provide day-to-day legal support on Canadian employment law matters, including hiring, discipline, accommodations, leaves of absence, workplace policies, employee relations, and terminations.
    • Assist Human Resources and management with workplace investigations and employment-related disputes.
    • Support compliance initiatives, including policy development, training programs, regulatory compliance reviews, and internal investigations.
    • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting employment, privacy, and compliance obligations in Canada.
    • Review, draft, and update employment-related agreements, policies, notices, and other legal documents.
    • Assist with responses to employment claims, government inquiries, and regulatory matters.
    • Support corporate governance and entity management activities for Canadian operations.
    • Conduct legal research and prepare practical guidance for business stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with internal legal teams, HR professionals, compliance personnel, and business leaders across North America.
    • Assist senior counsel with special projects and other legal matters as assigned.

     Required Qualifications:

    • Law degree (JD, LLB, or equivalent) and membership in good standing with a Canadian provincial law society.
    • 1-4 years of legal experience, preferably in employment law, labor law, compliance, litigation, or general corporate practice.
    • Strong legal research, analytical, and drafting skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
    • Sound judgment, professionalism, and a practical, business-focused approach to legal issues.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience supporting Canadian employment law matters in-house or at a law firm.
    • Familiarity with workplace investigations and employee relations matters.
    • Knowledge of compliance programs, ethics, privacy, or regulatory requirements.
    • French written and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience working within a large, multinational organization.
    • Experience with a unionized employee population
    • General familiarity with Canada public sector law (Federal and Provincial)
