Job description

Overview

National Award-Winning Engineering Firm is seeking a highly motivated Senior Structural Project Manager. This position requires you to work with a growing structural engineering group on a diverse variety of projects. Project work currently includes academic, municipal, industrial, and transportation. The Structural engineering team uses the latest technologies and scientific principles to develop forward-looking solutions.

The company has developed a mentor-mentee culture that allows them to share their experiences with one another, and in return, they can all grow personally and professionally. Where you have shortcomings, others in the company may have strengths. Keep that in mind as you read through their preferred additional qualifications below. They see value in anything you can bring to the table; even if it’s something other than what they have listed here.

 Responsibilities

We are seeking a skilled individual to provide technical expertise and project management for building structure design projects. Responsibilities include:

  • Developing structural engineering design solutions for buildings and structures, aligning with project objectives and design criteria.

  • Collaborating effectively with design team members to ensure smooth communication and coordination.

  • Delivering accurate and complete structural designs within project timelines and budget constraints.

  • Assisting with task assignments, project management, contract proposals, and contributing to business development efforts.

  • Conducting engineering calculations, preparing technical reports, and ensuring the accuracy of structural drawings and details.

  • Performing field-related tasks such as structural condition inspections, site visits, and field inventories.

  • Upholding company quality control standards and safety protocols throughout project execution.

  • Reviewing construction shop drawings and submittals to verify compliance with design specifications.

  • Providing oversight by checking the work of others as assigned and certifying engineering design documents as necessary.

Requirements

  • Professional Registration: A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Massachusetts is required, with a preference for a Structural Engineer (SE) license.

  • Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil) with an emphasis on Structural Engineering is required. A Master's Degree in Engineering is preferred.

  • Experience: 8-10 years of relevant work experience is necessary.

  • Project Leadership: Previous experience leading projects for organizations like MBTA or DCAMM in Boston, MA is highly valued.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in designing structural steel, concrete, wood/timber, and masonry components and framing systems is essential.

  • Client Relations: Demonstrated experience in building strong client relationships and managing complex projects is crucial.

  • Team Management: Proven ability to build and lead successful project teams.

  • Codes and Standards: Working knowledge of IBC, AISC, and ACI Building Codes is required.

  • Industry Knowledge: Must be well-versed in industry practices, regulations, and current technology applicable to the project.

  • Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills are necessary.

  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in computer-aided structural analysis/design software such as RISA 3D, Tekla, Fastrak, TEDDS, IES Quick Suite, and IES Visual Analysis is preferred.

  • Revit Knowledge: Familiarity with Autodesk Revit is beneficial.
