Job description

ABOUT THIS ROLE

As a Hardware Support Specialist at LVT, you will work on a small team of high-performing individuals who are experts at troubleshooting the mechanical and electrical components of our product. This role is ideal for those who have a background in trades such as automotive repair, the electrical field, or large home system installations, where hands-on experience with multimeters and battery troubleshooting is crucial. You will direct our network of field technicians over the phone in troubleshooting, identifying, and resolving problems. Along with the information you discover during the phone call, you will reference previous case notes and historical data charts showing voltage, current, temperature, and relay states. This position is perfect for someone with hardware troubleshooting expertise who now seeks to leverage their skills in an office environment, providing expert guidance and solutions remotely.

*This particular position also requires registering with the state of Utah as an Alarm Agent. This process includes a federal background check/fingerprinting and an application. This is separate from the background check you would complete for general employment eligibility at LVT.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnose electrical issues using voltage, current, temperature, and relay-state charts
  • Provide phone support for field technicians and partners
  • Assist field technicians in overcoming mechanical issues during an installation or repair
  • Provide a detailed report of replacement parts needed for repairs
  • Document all interactions with field technicians accurately and completely
  • Maximize your effectiveness by resolving a high percentage of incoming requests, only escalating when necessary

OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • Able to use a multimeter to troubleshoot a low-voltage DC system
  • Experience assembling or repairing mechanical and electrical components
  • Experience and desire to research and resolve technical issues utilizing manuals or other training materials
  • Be able to determine definitively the difference between a component or configuration issue
