Job description
The Roleย
As theย Supplier Development Engineer,ย Mechanicalย within the Supply Chain organizationย at K2 Space, youย willย be responsible forย definingย and implementingย supplier developmentย strategies forย the company. In this role,ย work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and procurement teams to grow and mature suppliers into strategic partners in support of company critical missions.ย You willย own theย continuous evaluation ofย suppliers, working with them to develop their process and improving their ability to support the company's needs. This role will have high visibility and impact across the organization.ย Success in this role requires the use ofย strong communicationย skillsย and commodity management experience to systematically grow and matureย K2 Space's supply chain.ย
Responsibilitiesย
- Assess supplier capabilities, technologies, and their ability to successfully execute manufacturing requirements.ย ย
- Manage Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), rate, and reliability campaigns to enable production.ย
- Leadย containments,ย issue ticket resolution,ย and supplier corrective action efforts.ย
- Evaluate supplier quality performance and drive improvements, using scorecards and audits,ย to ensure compliance to quality standards.ย
- Provide program leadership necessaryย inputsย to ensure that product quality, delivery, and cost achieve business and customer expectations.ย
- Interface with responsible engineering,ย production teams, and procurementย to define production roadmaps aligned withย companyย goals.ย
Qualificationsย
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering disciplineย
- 3+ years in a quality, reliability, supply chain, or engineering roleย
- Strong understanding of quality standards and tools (ISO 9001, AS9100, PPAP)ย
- Experience managing vendors, suppliers, and strategic technical partnersย ย
- Ability to travel up 25-50% of the timeย
Nice to Haveย
- Expert level knowledge inย mechanical commodities such as machined parts, mechanisms, and compositesย
- Knowledge of Lean conceptsย
- Experience in a new product introduction environmentย
- Experience in root cause and corrective action activitiesย
- Strong written and verbal communication skillsย
- Experience with data analytics and SQLย
Compensation and Benefitsย
- Base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $145,000 + equity in the companyย
- Salary will be based on several factors including, but not limitedย to:ย knowledge and skills, education, and experience levelย
