About Us

Plastpro is a leading manufacturer of high-quality fiberglass entry doors and building products, serving customers across North America through a complex manufacturing and global supply chain network.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Purchasing Manager to lead procurement, purchasing, inventory management, and supplier strategy across the organization.

This role will be responsible for ensuring materials and services are sourced competitively, inventory remains optimized, supplier performance is closely managed, and manufacturing operations have the materials they need to run without interruption.

Given Plastpro's international supplier relationships, Mandarin Chinese proficiency is strongly preferred, particularly for candidates who have experience working directly with suppliers and manufacturers in China.

The Opportunity

This is an ideal role for an experienced procurement and supply chain leader who combines strong strategic sourcing and negotiation skills with a hands-on understanding of purchasing, inventory, and manufacturing operations.

Reporting directly to the President of Plastpro, the Senior Purchasing Manager will lead supplier strategy, purchasing operations, inventory optimization, and supply chain improvement initiatives.

You’ll work closely with Operations, Manufacturing, Planning, Finance, Engineering, Sales, and Warehouse teams while also developing and managing relationships with domestic and international suppliers.

We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience sourcing from China and working directly with Chinese-speaking suppliers. Mandarin proficiency will be highly valuable in supplier negotiations, relationship management, issue resolution, and day-to-day communication.

This is a highly visible leadership role with direct influence over cost, inventory, supplier performance, and production continuity.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with business and manufacturing objectives.
  • Source, evaluate, negotiate with, and select domestic and international suppliers based on cost, quality, service, capacity, and delivery performance.
  • Lead negotiations for pricing, contracts, payment terms, warranties, and service agreements.
  • Build and maintain long-term strategic supplier relationships, including relationships with China-based and other international suppliers.
  • Communicate directly with suppliers to resolve pricing, quality, lead-time, capacity, and delivery issues.
  • Identify opportunities for supplier consolidation, alternative sourcing, and cost reduction.
  • Manage purchasing activities for raw materials, packaging, maintenance supplies, capital equipment, and indirect materials.
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
  • Monitor supplier lead times and ensure materials arrive according to production requirements.
  • Resolve shortages, damaged materials, invoice discrepancies, pricing issues, and supplier-related problems.
  • Develop inventory-control strategies that balance material availability with inventory carrying costs.
  • Monitor inventory accuracy, inventory turns, safety stock, obsolete inventory, and slow-moving inventory.
  • Lead cycle-count and physical-inventory programs.
  • Partner with Warehouse and Operations teams to improve inventory accuracy and material flow.
  • Coordinate with production planning to ensure sufficient material availability.
  • Identify supply-chain risks and develop contingency sourcing strategies for critical materials.
  • Monitor supplier capacity, logistics performance, and on-time delivery.
  • Work with logistics providers to optimize transportation costs and delivery schedules.
  • Develop supplier scorecards covering cost, quality, delivery, responsiveness, and service.
  • Conduct regular supplier business reviews and drive corrective actions where performance falls short.
  • Develop purchasing budgets and monitor procurement spending against plan.
  • Lead cost-reduction and cost-avoidance initiatives.
  • Analyze purchasing trends, spending patterns, inventory valuation, and procurement performance.
  • Supervise procurement, purchasing, and inventory personnel.
  • Establish departmental goals, KPIs, and performance expectations.
  • Coach and develop team members while promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, financial controls, applicable regulations, and ethical purchasing standards.
