Intake Nurse
Schedule:

  • Full time nights 6:00pm-6:00am

Compensation:

  • $40-42 hourly

Our company operates Residential Treatment Programs for individuals with Substance Abuse Disorder. We seek not merely to restore sobriety but to transform our patients? worlds from a state of darkness to vibrant technicolor.

Overview
The Intake Nurse works closely with the Director of Nursing (DON) to coordinate daily administrative duties, conduct audits, assist with scheduling, perform modified nursing intakes, nursing assignments, and patient care. This role ensures a high level of care in accordance with regulatory standards through continuous patient monitoring, safety compliance, and effective resource use.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial patient assessments in the absence of a Nurse Practitioner to determine admission appropriateness

  • Oversee patient admissions, transfers, and discharges

  • Collaborate with nursing staff to maintain high standards of patient care, including monitoring, assessment, and documentation

  • Support nurses in communicating treatment plans and liaising with providers

  • Identify non-compliance areas and provide in-service training as needed

  • Perform audits and ensure timely completion of nurses? day and night checklists

  • Lead change of shift meetings and orient nurses to patient needs on the milieu

  • Assist with nursing at-risk checklists and coaching as directed by the DON

  • Identify high-risk patients and discuss treatment plans with providers

  • Ensure complete documentation and proper handoff for patients needing a higher level of care (HLOC)

  • Coordinate patient return to the facility from HLOC settings by communicating with hospital nursing staff

  • Lead emergency codes and response teams

  • Safely administer medications and perform narcotic counts and destruction according to protocol

  • Complete medication census to ensure timely administration

  • Promote team dynamics to support continuous quality improvement and patient safety

  • Manage medication availability issues and follow up with pharmacies as needed

  • Assist with weekly urine drug screens

  • Receive, analyze, and upload lab results; communicate findings to physicians or Nurse Practitioners

  • Complete administrative duties as assigned by DON and other supervisory tasks

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Assist the DON with supervisory duties as delegated

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution required

  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a mental health setting preferred

  • Experience in chemical dependency field preferred

  • Personal passion or interest in substance abuse issues strongly preferred

  • Commitment to a drug-free lifestyle and responsible alcohol use required

Licenses and Certifications

  • Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment

  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
