Human Resources Coordinator
Location: Old Westbury NY Area
Job Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Pay: $26-$30/hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Full-Time
About the Opportunity
A growing long island/tri-state area organization is seeking a Human Resources Coordinator to join its internal HR team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is early in their HR career.
You'll work closely with the Director of Human Resources and receive hands-on exposure to recruiting, onboarding, employee records, HR systems, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations.
The ideal candidate is personable, organized, tech-savvy, eager to learn, and willing to jump in wherever needed. You don't need years of HR experience. We're looking for someone with the right attitude, strong attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate interviews, candidate communication, and recruiting activities
- Post and maintain job openings
- Coordinate background checks, references, and employment verifications
- Assist with offer letters and new hire paperwork
- Coordinate and lead new hire orientations
- Complete and maintain I-9 documentation
- Maintain confidential employee files and HR records
- Update employee information in the HRIS
- Track employee licenses, certifications, and required training
- Assist with HR compliance and audits
- Respond to routine employee questions and escalate sensitive matters appropriately
- Assist with onboarding, offboarding, and general HR administration
- Prepare reports, spreadsheets, correspondence, and other HR materials
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Psychology, Communications, or related field preferred
- Prior HR experience is not required
- Administrative, office, healthcare, customer-facing, internship, or recruiting experience is a plus
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable speaking with employees and candidates
- Hands-on training and mentorship from the Director of HR
