Job Title: Division Manager

Job Purpose:

Huck’s Market, a leading convenience store, is dedicated to providing fresh food and dispensed beverages along with exceptional friendly customer service. Division Managers are responsible for overseeing 9-13 locations, including all aspects of fuel sales, inside retail sales, prepared food sales, other facility revenues, facility maintenance, inventory/cash control, and local marketing. They play a crucial role in increasing profits while safeguarding company assets. Additionally, Division Managers recruit, train, and develop their teams, providing ongoing coaching and support to store managers and their teams.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure assigned stores meet operating objectives.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing levels and oversee the recruitment and development of store managers, assistant managers, and food service personnel.
  • Provide customer service in line with Huck’s standards.
  • Guide all Managers to focus on achieving the company's mission and vision statements.
  • Consistently apply company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain stock levels and appearance standards.
  • Adhere to marketing guidelines and programs.
  • Implement new programs and procedures, ensuring 100% completion.
  • Engage in community involvement initiatives.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
  • Experience: Two to four years of related experience and/or training. Experience in managing a convenience store is preferred.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business documents, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Written Communication Skills: Capable of writing reports and business correspondence and presenting information effectively to groups of managers or customers.
  • Mathematical Skills: Proficient in calculating figures such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and general business formulas.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems with minimal direction and interpret a variety of instructions provided in written or oral form.

Physical Demands and Visual Requirements:

  • Frequently required to sit, use hands, talk, and hear.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 60 pounds.
  • Specific visual requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, as travel is required. Vehicles must be maintained to meet safety standards. Driving records will be periodically checked.
  • Must consent to and comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Provide customer service according to Huck’s standards.
  • Ensure assigned stores meet operating objectives.
  • Recruit and develop store management teams, including store managers, assistant managers, and food service personnel.
  • Communicate company mission and vision to all managers.
  • Consistently apply company policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to marketing guidelines and programs.
  • Engage in community involvement.
  • Develop strong store management teams through networking, coaching, teaching, performance evaluation, and example.
  • Serve as the communication link between the corporate office and stores.
  • Monitor store adherence to corporate standards in housekeeping, product display, sanitation, security, accounting procedures, and safety.
  • Lead store managers in planning for sales and profit growth.Analyze statistical data and reports, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Ensure the safety of store managers, associates, and customers.
  • Control labor costs within the assigned stores.

Job Requirements:

  • Division Managers must visit each store no less than every 10 days.
  • If unable to visit a store, the Vice-President of Operations must be notified immediately.
  • Complete and submit Division Manager checklists as specified.
  • Perform cash audits monthly.Submit a weekly itinerary to the Regional Director/Vice-President of Operations by 8:00 a.m. each Monday.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, as travel is required. Driving records will be checked periodically. Vehicles must meet safety standards.
  • Comply with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.

Authority:

  • Authority to select store managers, assistant managers, and food service managers following 100% of selection criteria.
  • Authority to recommend pricing and merchandising strategies.
  • Authority to recommend salary adjustments, promotions, and dismissals of associates.
