Job description

Looking to build a career in construction—not just start a job?

At McGrath, our Assistant Project Managers are hands-on, involved, and set up for long-term growth. You won’t be stuck doing paperwork—you’ll be part of real projects, real decisions, and real progress from day one.

We’re a 100% employee-owned construction manager and general contractor specializing in industrial, pharmaceutical, healthcare, energy, and complex commercial work—and we’re growing.

What you’ll actually be doing:

  • Supporting Project Managers and field teams on active construction projects
  • Reviewing plans, specs, and submittals
  • Coordinating with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Tracking project progress, schedules, and documentation
  • Helping solve jobsite challenges in real time
  • Learning how projects are built—from the ground up

Why Project Engineers choose McGrath:

  • Clear path to Project Manager – we promote from within
  • Employee-owned – your growth = company success
  • Hands-on experience – not stuck behind a desk all day
  • Strong mentorship – learn from experienced PMs and field leaders
  • Repeat clients + steady work – real projects, not constant chasing

What we’re looking for:

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
OR field experience looking to move into an office role
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
  • Good communication skills and a team-first mindset
  • Ability to stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Someone who takes pride in doing things the right way

Bonus if you have:

  • Internship or co-op experience in construction
  • Experience reading construction drawings
  • Familiarity with Procore or similar tools

What you get:

  • 100% paid family medical, dental, and vision
  • 401(k) with company match + Roth option
  • Paid time off + holidays
  • Company-paid life and disability insurance
  • A long-term career path—not just a stepping stone

If you’re someone who wants to:

  • Learn quickly
  • Grow into a leadership role
  • Be part of a team that actually builds meaningful projects

We’d like to talk.
