Job description

Schedule Information:  Work schedule is determined by clinical schedules for students.

The College was established by referendum in 1965 and opened September 1967. It is named for Dr. William Rainey Harper, a pioneer in the junior college movement in the United States and the first president of the University of Chicago.
Harper College is now one of the nation's premier community colleges and one of the largest, serving approximately 29,000 students annually in Chicago's northwest suburbs. The College's academic programs prepare students for rewarding careers and for transfer to four-year universities. Harper offers associate degree and certification programs, advanced career programs, workforce training, professional development, continuing education classes, accelerated degree options for adults and developmental education programs.

With continuous advancement in patient carer, health care workers with training in the latest technology and best practices are in constant demand. The Harper College Health Careers Division prepares students for a career in a variety of health settings, from hospitals and clinics, to nursing homes and community based organizations.

Educational Requirements: Current unencumbered RN license (Illinois) is required. B.A. Degree or B.S.N Degree preferred. If applicant does not have a BSN, then an IDPH Train the Trainer and Approved Evaluator certificate is required.

Experience Requirements: Two years of nursing experience with one year focusing on care for the elderly, including Alzheimer's clients, Ability to coach students in a laboratory and in the clinical setting.

Required Documents:  ***A resume and cover letter are required to complete the application process***

* Electronic copies of transcripts must be attached to your application for full consideration.

* Current Train the Trainer and Approved Evaluator including Alzheimer's certificate, if not a BSN

* Current AHA healthcare provider CPR card.

* Official transcripts required upon hire.

* Mandatory orientation required upon hire

* Employment is contingent upon Criminal Background Check.

* Employment sponsorship is not available.

Duties of Position: This position involves clinical instruction and direct supervision of Certified Nursing Assistant students during lab, class and clinical.
