Hadrian Jobs Information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Process Engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Process Engineer, you need a solid background in chemical, mechanical, or industrial engineering, often supported by a relevant bachelor's degree and understanding of process optimization principles. Familiarity with process simulation software (such as Aspen Plus or AutoCAD), Six Sigma methodologies, and quality management systems is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills set candidates apart in this role. These skills and qualifications are essential to improve efficiency, ensure safety, and drive continuous improvement in industrial and manufacturing processes.

What are some common challenges Process Engineers face when implementing process improvements, and how can they overcome them?

Process Engineers often encounter challenges such as resistance to change from team members, integrating new technologies with existing systems, and ensuring process changes meet regulatory standards. Overcoming these obstacles typically involves clear communication, involving stakeholders early in the process, thorough documentation, and piloting changes before full-scale implementation. Building strong cross-functional relationships and continuously gathering feedback also help ensure that improvements are effective and sustainable.

What are Process Engineers?

Process Engineers are professionals who design, implement, and optimize industrial processes to improve efficiency, quality, and safety in manufacturing or production environments. They analyze workflows, troubleshoot process issues, and develop solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs. Process Engineers often work in industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and energy, ensuring processes are compliant with environmental and safety regulations. Their work is vital for maintaining smooth operations and achieving organizational goals.

What jobs make $3,000 a month without a degree?

Process engineers typically require a degree, but some related roles like manufacturing technicians, quality inspectors, or certain entry-level industrial jobs can pay around $3,000 monthly without a degree, especially with experience or certifications. Skilled trades such as HVAC technicians, electricians, or welders may also reach this income level through apprenticeships and on-the-job training.

What is the difference between Process Engineer vs Manufacturing Engineer?

AspectProcess EngineerManufacturing Engineer
CredentialsBachelor's in Engineering, certifications like Six SigmaBachelor's in Engineering, certifications like Lean Manufacturing
Work EnvironmentDesigning and optimizing processes, R&D settingsOverseeing production lines, factory floors
Industry UsageManufacturing, chemical, aerospaceAutomotive, electronics, consumer goods

Process Engineers focus on designing and improving manufacturing processes, often working in R&D or engineering departments. Manufacturing Engineers concentrate on implementing and managing production on the factory floor. Both roles require similar technical skills and certifications but differ mainly in their scope and work environment.

Job description

Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future
Hadrian is building autonomous factories that help aerospace and defense companies manufacture rockets, satellites, jets, and ships up to 10x faster and up to 2x cheaper. By combining advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we are reinventing how America produces its most critical parts.
We're accelerating our mission with the launch of Factory 3 in Mesa, Arizona, a 290,000-square-foot facility creating 350 new jobs. We are expanding rapidly to support thousands of future hires, launching Hadrian Maritime to expand into naval production, and introducing a Factory-as-a-Service model that delivers complete systems instead of individual parts.
Hadrian is backed by leading investors including T. Rowe Price, Lux Capital, Founders Fund, and Andreessen Horowitz, our fast-growing team is united around reindustrializing American manufacturing for the 21st century and beyond.
Join Us in Advancing Additive Manufacturing
We are building next-generation additive manufacturing (AM) systems by integrating materials science, process physics, and digital workflows into a unified production environment. From feedstock development and build preparation through printing, post-processing, and validation, we treat AM as a fully coupled thermal, mechanical, and materials system.
We are solving complex challenges in distortion control, material properties, multi-material integration, and production scalability. This requires engineers with deep expertise across AM processes, materials, and qualification frameworks.
This is a general opportunity to engage additive manufacturing engineers with specialized experience across key process areas.
Core Specialty Areas
  • AM Materials & Feedstock: Metals (Ti-6Al-4V, Inconel 625/718, Scalmalloy, CuNi30, CP1), polymers, photopolymers, multi-material systems, feedstock development and qualification
  • Process Development & Build Strategy: AM build preparation, laser path generation, parameter development, distortion compensation, process robustness
  • Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM): Topology optimization, support strategies, tooling design
  • Process Monitoring & Control: In-situ monitoring, closed-loop control systems, defect detection
  • Post-Processing & Finishing: Heat treatment, machining, surface finishing, post-process development
  • Testing & Material Characterization: Tensile and fatigue testing, chemical analysis, microstructural (micrographic) analysis, powder characterization
  • Inspection & Validation: 3D scanning, CT scanning, advanced NDE and defect characterization
  • Data & Material Systems: Material property development, database creation, qualification frameworks

What You'll Do
  • Develop, qualify, and scale additive manufacturing processes for performance, repeatability, and production readiness
  • Control critical variables (energy input, scan strategy, thermal gradients, material behavior) to ensure part integrity
  • Partner with design, materials, and manufacturing teams to implement robust AM production systems
  • Lead root cause analysis for defects such as porosity, cracking, distortion, and anisotropic behavior
  • Build and maintain process standards, material databases, and qualification documentation

What We're Looking For
  • Degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent hands-on AM experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in additive manufacturing processes, materials, or qualification
  • Strong understanding of thermal processes, microstructure evolution, and material properties in AM
  • Ability to interpret complex geometries, drawings, and performance requirements
  • Experience in production or R&D environments focused on process control and validation

What Will Set You Apart
  • Experience across the full AM lifecycle (design → build → post-process → inspection → qualification)
  • Deep expertise in metal AM systems (LPBF, DED) or advanced polymer AM
  • Familiarity with multi-material printing and advanced process control systems
  • Experience in aerospace, defense, or other high-performance applications

Benefits for Full-time Employees
  • Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
  • 401k
  • Relocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need.
  • Flexible vacation policy
