    Our recruiting firm has partnered with a growing commercial construction and remodeling company in Waukesha, Wisconsin, seeking a Director of Commercial Construction & Business Development to lead operations, drive strategic growth, and serve as the senior construction leader for the organization.

    With a strong project pipeline and ambitious growth plans, the company is looking for a proven commercial construction executive who can lead project execution, develop client relationships, and build a scalable operation capable of supporting continued expansion.

    Position Summary

    The Director of Commercial Construction & Business Development will serve as the senior leader and subject matter expert for the company's commercial construction division.

    This role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of commercial construction operations while driving new business development and market growth. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience leading commercial remodeling, renovation, reconstruction, or tenant improvement projects and a proven ability to build relationships that generate revenue.

    This is a highly visible leadership position that combines:

    The Director will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, profitably, and at the highest level of quality while expanding the company's commercial presence throughout the market.

    Key ResponsibilitiesCommercial Construction Leadership
    • Lead all commercial construction operations for the Waukesha market
    • Serve as the company's primary subject matter expert for commercial remodeling, renovation, reconstruction, and tenant improvement projects
    • Oversee project execution from preconstruction through closeout
    • Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and at expected quality standards
    • Establish and maintain operational processes that support scalable growth
    • Drive accountability across project teams and field operations
    Team Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and field personnel
    • Build a culture of accountability, performance, and continuous improvement
    • Assist with hiring, onboarding, and developing construction talent
    • Create leadership succession and growth opportunities within the department
    Financial Management
    • Maintain full P&L responsibility for the commercial construction division
    • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, project profitability, and financial performance
    • Monitor gross margins and implement strategies to improve profitability
    • Ensure accurate project financial reporting and forecasting
    Business Development & Growth
    • Develop and maintain relationships with:
      • Property managers
      • Commercial real estate professionals
      • Brokers
      • Facility managers
      • Building owners
      • Commercial clients
    • Identify new project opportunities and strategic partnerships
    • Participate in networking events, industry associations, and business development activities
    • Support achievement of annual commercial revenue growth targets
    Required Qualifications
    • 10+ years of commercial construction leadership experience
    • Experience leading commercial remodeling, renovation, reconstruction, tenant improvement, or commercial build-out projects
    • Previous experience as a Director of Construction, Operations Manager, Senior Project Manager, Construction Executive, or similar leadership role
    • Proven experience managing Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams
    • Strong understanding of commercial construction operations, scheduling, estimating, subcontractor management, and project execution
    • Demonstrated business development and client relationship management experience
    • Strong financial acumen with P&L ownership experience
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience within restoration, reconstruction, or insurance-related commercial construction environments
    • Existing relationships within the Wisconsin commercial construction market
    • Experience scaling construction operations and implementing operational processes
    • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field
    Compensation & Benefits
    • Base Salary: $115,000 - $140,000
