Job Description:

Position Description:

Builds and deploys REST Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) using Java and Spring boot. Delivers software using the latest web technologies and frameworks, including JavaScript, Angular, VC++, and Microsoft Foundational Classes (MFC). Develops RESTful application webservices corresponding to each functional domain using Java, J2EE, and Spring. Builds automation pipelines according to DevOps concepts and using Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) tools (Maven, Jenkins, and Stash). Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participates in architecture design teams.
  • Defines and implements application level architecture.
  • Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
  • Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
  • Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
  • Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
  • Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
  • Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
  • Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
  • Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
  • Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
  • Advises senior management on technical strategy.
  • Mentors junior team members.
  • Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
  • Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing highly performant and resilient applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Node.Js, .Net, Oracle database, Mongo DB, and SQL Server database in a financial services environment.

Or, alternatively, Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field (or foreign education equivalent) and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) designing and developing highly performant and resilient applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, Node,Js, .Net, Oracle database, Mongo DB, and SQL Server database in a financial services environment.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

  • Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") conducting Object-Oriented ("OO") application design and analysis by applying OO programming principles and design patterns; and developing projects by securely integrating Application Backend Services (APIs), Databases, and User Interface components.
  • DE architecting, designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining Web applications using Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Microservices, Angular, and Spring MVC; and developing Web applications using Java, Angular, Spring MVC, or Spring Core.
  • DE developing Web Services (SOAP or REST) Application Program Interfaces (APIs) using Spring Boot, Spring framework, Tomcat, Node.js, and .Net; executing batch applications to run and generate reports for downstream systems using Spring Batch and ETL; and deploying applications on Microsoft Azure cloud platform, using Azure functions, SQL Server Managed Instance, AKS framework, and Desktop as a Service (DaaS) deployment.
  • DE performing software application maintenance and public cloud migration using Java, J2EE, Angular, or JavaScript; and administering Defined Benefit Pension plans and solutions including 401a, 415b, 417e, Non-Qualified SERP, FICA, and disbursement payment procedures by adhering to Federal, State, IRS and ERISA laws and taxes.
