What is warehousing?

Warehousing refers to the process of storing goods, products, or materials in a warehouse before they are distributed, sold, or used. Warehousing involves the management of inventory, organization of storage space, and handling of incoming and outgoing shipments. It plays a crucial role in supply chain management by ensuring that products are safely stored and readily available when needed. Warehousing operations can include tasks such as receiving goods, packing, picking, and shipping.

Client Automation Specialist (Field Service Technician)

Location: Detroit, MI (Romulus, MI)
Service Area: 100 Mile radius to Detroit

At Ernest, we're more than a packaging company - we're problem solvers, innovators, and partners in our clients' success. We're looking for a Client Automation Specialist to join our Detroit Division - someone who thrives on hands-on technical work, enjoys being on the road, and takes pride in helping clients keep their operations running smoothly.

As a key member of the Ernest team, you'll be the trusted expert supporting our clients who purchase or lease packaging and warehouse equipment. You'll install, service, and maintain machinery, diagnose and repair issues, and provide the kind of customer service that keeps clients coming back.

What You'll Do

  • Partner closely with sales reps and customers to provide expert equipment and machinery knowledge.
  • Facilitate and oversee installation and start-up of newly sold equipment.
  • Provide warranty service and support on equipment sold.
  • Train customers on proper care, operation, and maintenance of their equipment.
  • Maintain, modify, and repair client equipment as needed.
  • Ensure accurate billing for all services performed.
  • Maintain organized customer service records for all clients using Ernest equipment.
  • Communicate important customer needs or issues to management as discovered during service calls.
  • Promote and sell Preventative Maintenance Programs to clients using Ernest equipment.
  • Manage the ordering and inventory of spare and replacement parts.
  • Stay current with and train on new equipment lines carried by Ernest.
  • Maintain and inspect demo equipment, keeping detailed reports for every use.

What You Bring

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills - you're as comfortable in front of a client as you are behind a toolbox.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot effectively.
  • Self-motivated and organized - you can prioritize work independently in the field.
  • Proven ability to identify and resolve problems quickly, minimizing client downtime.
  • Electrical and mechanical experience gained through the U.S. military or equivalent training.
  • Ability to source parts from multiple vendors as needed.
  • Proficiency in reading equipment and electrical schematics/drawings.
  • Skilled in diagnosing and repairing mechanical or electrical issues efficiently.
  • Comfortable making equipment recommendations and presentations to clients.
  • Adaptable to varied work environments, from warehouse floors to outdoor installations.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (as required by state or location).

Why Ernest

At Ernest, your work goes beyond machinery - it's about connection. You'll be part of a team that believes when one person moves ahead, we all move forward. You'll have the opportunity to grow your technical skills, build long-term client relationships, and make a real impact every day.

Pay range: $25 - 40/hour DOE
