Job description

  • Trading Systems Engineer - Python / Linux

  • New York, NY (Hybrid, 3 days in office)

  • Highly competitive compensation package

Join a world-leading quantitative investment firm, a pioneering force that has operated at the intersection of finance and technology. Their culture is more akin to a sophisticated R&D lab than a typical financial firm, driven by a passion for solving complex problems. They’re seeking an exceptional engineer to ensure the flawless performance of the systems at the very heart of their global trading operations.

This is not a typical support role. You will be a vital, hands-on engineering partner to their quantitative trading teams, empowered to make a direct and immediate impact on the business.

Your responsibilities:

  • Provide critical, real-time support for our systematic trading platforms, working directly alongside quantitative researchers and traders

  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues across the entire stack, from low-level Linux and network events to sophisticated application and FIX protocol behavior

  • Engineer robust, automated solutions using Python, Shell, and modern Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform to eliminate toil and enhance system reliability

  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement, drive projects to enhance performance, and collaborate with dedicated software development teams to build the next generation of support tooling

Your experience:

  • Deep expertise in Linux/UNIX systems administration and performance troubleshooting.

  • Exceptional command of Python and Shell for automation and tooling.

  • A tenacious, problem-solving mindset, with proven experience leading the response to critical production outages.

  • Proficiency with modern monitoring and observability stacks (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, ITRS)

  • Experience directly supporting traders or Portfolio Managers in a low-latency environment is highly desirable.

  • Knowledge of the FIX protocol is a significant advantage.

What they offer:

  • An opportunity to work on deeply challenging technical problems in a world-class engineering environment

  • A collaborative, academic culture where you will be surrounded by some of the brightest minds in technology and finance

  • An environment that encourages and rewards learning agility, innovation, and a proactive engineering mindset.

  • An exceptional, market-leading compensation package.
