Job description

Financial Institutions Group – Insurance Associate Attorney / Counsel

Direct Counsel is seeking a mid- to senior-level Insurance Associate Attorney or Counsel to join a premier global law firm’s Financial Institutions Group in its New York, New York office. The firm is seeking attorneys with substantive insurance M&A transactional experience, including experience with reinsurance transactions.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with sophisticated insurance transactional experience to join a market-leading financial institutions practice and work on complex, high-profile matters for leading clients in the insurance industry.

Responsibilities
  • Advise insurance companies and other financial institutions on sophisticated M&A transactions.

  • Handle insurance-related mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic transactions.

  • Advise clients on reinsurance transactions and related transactional matters.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents and related agreements.

  • Conduct and oversee transactional due diligence.

  • Work closely with clients, opposing counsel, and internal deal teams to execute complex transactions.

  • Manage designated aspects of transactions and take increasing responsibility for client matters.

  • Collaborate with attorneys across the firm's Financial Institutions Group and other practice areas.

Qualifications
  • Substantive insurance M&A transactional experience is required.

  • Experience with reinsurance transactions is required.

  • Strong law firm experience, preferably within a sophisticated corporate or financial institutions practice.

  • High level of academic achievement preferred.

  • Excellent analytical, drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex transactions.

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

  • Strong client-service orientation and professional judgment.

New York, New York

Compensation

Salary Range: $260,000–$455,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and other job-related factors.

The position may also be eligible for a discretionary year-end bonus.
