    Job description

    The Technician is responsible for assisting with the installation, deployment, maintenance, and support of enterprise IT infrastructure, including network equipment, wireless systems, and physical access control systems. Working closely with the engineering team, the Technician ensures technology deployments are completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with school district standards.

    This position is ideal for individuals who are mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to develop their technical skills while building a career in IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will receive hands-on experience with enterprise networking, infrastructure technologies, and physical security systems, along with mentorship and opportunities for professional growth.
    Travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City and reporting to Long Island Head Quarters is required. Role can change to reporting to HQ only.
    Work Schedule

    The standard work schedule for this position is 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM to support project implementation and operational requirements. During school district breaks, summer months, or as required to support business and project needs, the work schedule will transition to HQ from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

    Employees are expected to maintain a flexible work schedule and may be required to adjust their hours based on project timelines, operational priorities, maintenance windows, emergency response, or other business needs. Responsibilities may include staging and configuration in the configuration center, distribution and other project initiatives based at HQ.
    What You'll Do:

       Assist Systems Engineers with the installation, configuration, and deployment of enterprise network infrastructure, including Cisco and Cisco Meraki switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and related equipment.
       Rack, mount, cable, and organize network and server equipment within IDFs, MDFs, and data centers while maintaining exceptional cable management standards.
       Assist with infrastructure upgrades, technology refreshes, equipment replacements, and enterprise deployment projects.
       Perform firmware updates, and hardware replacement activities under the direction of Systems Engineers.
       Assist with network testing, connectivity verification, and basic infrastructure troubleshooting.
       Maintain accurate documentation, including network equipment inventories, installation records, rack elevations, cable schedules, and project documentation.
       Follow established engineering standards, documentation practices, safety procedures, and change management processes.
       Collaborate with Systems Engineers, Associate Systems Engineers, Project Managers, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful project completion
       Provide professional customer service and communicate effectively with clients and team members.
       Travel throughout the five boroughs of New York City and HQ located in Long Island to
    support infrastructure installation, maintenance, and engineering projects.

    What You Bring:

       Associate's degree in Information Technology, Electronics, Networking, or related work experience.
       1-2 years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, networking equipment, or related technologies.
       Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, switching, wireless networking, and structured cabling.
       Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems and computer hardware.
       Experience using hand and power tools for equipment installation and cable management.
       Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
       Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
       Ability to read technical documentation, equipment layouts, and installation instructions.
       Ability to lift 10 pounds or more and transport equipment and safely use ladders when required.
       Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
    Preferred
       CompTIA A+, Network+ or equivalent entry-level certification
       Familiarity with Cisco or Cisco Meraki networking solutions.
       Experience patching Cat6/Cat6A and fiber optic cabling.
       Familiarity with access control, surveillance, audiovisual, or low-voltage systems.
       CompTIA A+, Network+.

    The position is based in Hauppauge, LI and will require travel to the five boroughs of New York City and outside of New York City.
