    Job description

    Overview
    Ramos CS, now a part of Colliers Engineering & Design, is actively hiring a Resident Engineer to support construction of the Willow Rock Energy Storage Center (WRESC), a nominal 520-megawatt (MW) gross (500 MW net) advanced compressed air energy storage (A-CAES) facility in Kern County, California, approximately 4 miles north of Rosamond. The Resident Engineer will provide senior-level engineering oversight across the site's four 130 MW power turbine trains, thermal storage systems, air storage cavern, and the associated 19-mile 230kV gen-tie interconnection to Southern California Edison's Whirlwind Substation, serving as the primary technical resource for engineering.
    Responsibilities
    • Serve as the senior engineering point of contact on-site, responding to design and engineering questions raised by contractors and field staff.
    • Review contractor submittals, RFIs, and change order requests for technical accuracy and conformance with design intent.
    • Oversee and support Field Engineers and Construction Inspectors, providing technical guidance and quality control direction.
    • Monitor construction progress against design documents, specifications, and project schedule.
    • Attend and lead site meetings, progress meetings, and technical coordination calls as needed.
    • Review and approve engineering documentation, as-built conditions, and field-generated design changes.
    • Identify and help resolve field conditions that require engineering re-design or contract change orders.
    • Promote a Safety First approach across all site activities.

    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
    • Active California Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
    • 10+ years of experience in heavy industrial construction, with demonstrated ability to respond to engineering questions in the field.
    • Strong understanding of design engineering concepts across civil, structural, mechanical, and/or electrical disciplines.
    • Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
    • Experience on power generation, energy storage, or other heavy industrial/utility-scale projects.
    • Experience working alongside EPC contractors and multi-disciplinary design teams.
    • Availability for regular site visits and meetings - full-time field presence is not required.

    Compensation: $160,000 to $185,000 per year (depending on qualifications)
