Job description

Summary Chenega Naswik International is seeking a Visitor Control Center Specialist to join our team in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) Office of Security . In this critical frontline security role, you will help protect personnel, facilities, and operations by ensuring all visitors meet security requirements before accessing controlled areas. The successful candidate will conduct visitor screening and security inspections, including the use of hand-held metal detectors and physical inspection of bags, equipment, and personal belongings to identify prohibited items. You will also verify visitor security clearance eligibility, maintain accurate access records, and utilize the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) and other security systems to support daily operations. This position is ideal for detail-oriented professionals who thrive in a mission-driven environment and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of security, professionalism, and customer service while supporting a vital national defense mission. Responsibilities * Monitor and maintain visual awareness of all personnel entering and transiting the Visitor Control Center (VCC) to observe visitor actions, activities, and movements, ensuring compliance with established security protocols. * Verify visitor access eligibility and process the appropriate level of facility access for a variety of populations, including cleared and uncleared visitors, contractor personnel, foreign nationals, and new or existing employees. * Review and validate security clearance eligibility, visit authorization requests, and other required documentation to determine access approval for NAVSEA Headquarters facilities. * Utilize the Navy/Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) and other designated security systems to support daily visitor control, access management, and administrative functions. * Issue, track, and maintain visitor and employee credentials in accordance with security policies and procedures. * Maintain accurate records and documentation related to visitor processing, access control, and security transactions. * Manage inventory levels of government-furnished badging and credentialing supplies, monitoring usage and submitting replenishment requests to ensure uninterrupted operations. * Provide professional customer service while enforcing security requirements and serving as a primary point of contact for visitors and personnel requiring facility access. * Support security operations during infrequent, pre-scheduled weekend drills for NAVSEA reserve personnel, with Visitor Control Center operations potentially required for up to three (3) hours. * Support occasional after-hours, evening, or special-event operations when mission requirements necessitate Visitor Control Center coverage outside normal business hours. * Other duties as assigned Qualifications * Demonstrated experience performing visitor control, access control, security operations, or related protective services duties. * Active DoD Secret Security Clearance required, with the ability to maintain clearance throughout employment. * Minimum of one (1) year of relevant professional experience in security, visitor management, access control, force protection, government administration, or related field. * Experience verifying personnel eligibility, reviewing access authorization documentation, and processing visitor credentials is preferred. * Ability to effectively interact with government personnel, contractors, visitors, and members of the public in a professional manner. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and utilize government databases and security management systems, including NMCI-based applications. * Ability to work occasional pre-scheduled weekend and after- hours shifts in support of mission requirements. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately review, verify, and process visitor access documentation. * Knowledge of visitor control, access management, physical security, and facility entry procedures. * Ability to interpret and apply security policies, procedures, and regulations while exercising sound judgment. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and courteously with individuals at all organizational levels. * Strong customer service skills while maintaining strict adherence to security requirements. * Ability to maintain composure, professionalism, and sound decision-making under stressful or high-volume situations.
