Inspire Progress as a Senior Highway Engineer — Advance Transportation Solutions That Connect Communities

Are you ready to step into a role where your leadership and expertise shape how communities move, grow, and thrive? Do you find purpose in solving complex engineering challenges that leave a lasting mark on the safety, resilience, and performance of transportation systems?

CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to join our Highway & Rail Team as a technical leader and mentor in Keene, NH. In this key role, you will serve as a technical leader and mentor—driving quality across highway initiatives, supporting collaborative project teams, and helping deliver practical, sustainable solutions. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in a meaningful way and contribute to transportation systems that make a lasting, positive impact.

CHA believes our employees should have the time and flexibility to balance work and personal commitments. We offer most employees the option of a hybrid schedule with a work week that includes both office and work from home days.

    • Lead the technical execution of complex engineering designs, technical reports, and specifications for various highway projects including roadway modeling, roundabouts, and signal design
    • Provide expert consultation and resolve highly complex technical issues across multidiscipline transportation projects
    • Lead advanced technical projects, collaborating with other engineering departments and project management staff to deliver sustainable solutions
    • Develop and manage discipline work plans aligned with project milestones, ensuring projects are completed within budget and scheduling restraints
    • Guide and mentor junior engineering staff, including providing technical reviews and support
    • Deliver technical development of proposals and external presentations to clients, public, and regulatory agencies

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering required
    • Minimum of 10 years progressive engineering experience required; roadway or hydraulic design experience preferred
    • NHDOT experience preferred
    • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
    • Expert knowledge of the respective engineering discipline with a proven ability to apply best practices
    • Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (MicroStation, OpenRoads, etc.)
    • Strong understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
    • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred

    • Serve as a technical leader within the transportation discipline, leading challenging highway projects that elevate the safety, efficiency, and resilience of transportation systems
    • Make a meaningful impact while mentoring the next generation of engineering talent
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in a flexible, supportive work environment
