Job description

Chief Medical Officer, Cape Cod Hospital

The Chief Medical Officer serves as the physician liaison between the medical staff and Hospital and CCHC administration. As a key member of the administrative management team, the Chief Medical Officer coordinates the administrative support for medical staff, committees performing peer review, credentialing, quality assurance; professional relations and continuing medical education. Oversees the recruitment of physicians as identified and approved by the annual Medical Staff Development Plan.

Provides medical staff oversight by coordinating Medical Staff peer review, Process Improvement and Risk Management activities; provides liaison with the hospital Process Improvement Director and Risk Manager. Coordinates administrative support for clinical chiefs and departments for Process Improvement activities and interprets Joint Commission, DPH, and Board of Registration Process Improvement requirements. Supports the Chief of Staff and other medical leadership for governance and management of medical staff. Provides liaison between medical staff and hospital administration. Serves as ex-officio member of all medical staff committees except Nominating Committee. Regularly attends the Medical Executive, Credentials, Utilization Management, Ethics, and Medical Staff Quality Committee meetings. Serves as a member of the Physician/Patient Complaint Review Committee, the Patient Care Assessment Committee, and hospital Quality Committee. Participates as a hospital representative in community activities. Provides oversight for hospital recruitment activities by coordination of the joint recruiting efforts of the hospital and the members of the medical staff. Participates in developing recruitment plans with CPG's, MEC's and hospital administration. Responsible for medical staff credentialing activities to assure efficiency of process and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Provides program support to Hospitalist Service, Infectious Disease Clinical Specialists and Emergency Department. Oversees the Medical Staff Continuing Medical Education program including the Medical Library. Participates in long-range planning and strategic planning of the medical staff and Trustees. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers in a manner that reflects Hospital's commitment to CARES: compassion, accountability, respect, excellence, and service.

Doctor of Medicine and Certification by any Board of Specialty recognized by the American Medical Association. Eligible for membership on CCH Medical Staff. Excellent communication skills with experience in dealing with interactions of physicians and other health care professionals in the health care system.
